I had this happen with my alternate air door. I just glassed the
magnet into the bottom of the air box. End of problem. I just
inspected it yesterday and, after one year, the fix is still intact.

      Ken
Still doing he annual condition inspection.

Good to see everyone at W95 yesterday. It was nice that each of our "better
half's" could make it too. It was four planes and eight people (Ten if you
count Scott K., who we happen to run into at Howard's pub. Scott I got your
voice mail after I returned to civilization -- no signal at the coast, at
least on my phone.). Anyway, there are a couple pictures on the new SERV
      photo gallery:

I'm at this point in the installation process. Would an aluminum plate on
the opposite side hold these rivets? ie a backer.

      Stormy,

Just got back from Ocracoke. They didn't have any rooms at
Crews Inn, but they steered me to The Castle, and it was very
nice. Wound up running into LL, MB, and WN down at Howard's
on Sunday, it's a small world at 200mph. Thanks again for the
info, see you all again soon.

If I understand what you are saying, the backer would interfere with the
seal of the door -- unless you made a doubler that encircled the entire
opening. I think Ken's idea of attaching the magnet with epoxy only, no
rivets, is a good one. Or just don't put the door in at all. I have the
door, and will inspect it at the next opportunity and decide what to do
      then....

Here's the latest, and it's subject to change...

The nice British guy (Mike) who's in charge there for now while the owner is off
the Island hasn't been doing this very long (maybe a week and a half) and was
being more gracious than was allowed, in the eyes of the owner.

Latest word, after Mike checked with his boss, is we will have to make deposits
to secure our rooms (imagne that!) What's slightly worse, there's a three night
minimum for the holiday weekend (heck, at these room rates that's still a
deal even if you only use two nights.)

He is still checking (after my third call to him today) about official cacellation
terms and deadlines. Good news is the whole place is still reserved for us
Friday through Sunday nights for the next day or so whilst we get our act together.

As soon as I find out more, I will post it right here, most likely tonight. Until
then, there's no point I can see in any of you calling him; he doesn't know
what to tell you yet. Watch this space.,,

To recap: we're going to have to rent the place for three nights or not at all.
Miriam and I are still "in," even under those terms. I hope that will work
for the rest of you as well :-)

Howards' Pub Crab Bites in raspberry hot sauce...Mmmmmmmmmmmm :-)
