Well I just got home and had my breakfast at 11:15 AM. 30 miles from Cheraw
I was on top at 2500'. Automated WX was giving 400' and 1 mile. I held for
35 minutes along with several other aircraft and bailed out. 25 miles NW of
Cheraw I tried to get under the clouds and come in that way but it would
have required 400' or less. Again I balled out.
Oh well, there is always another breakfast at 47J.
James and Len how did you fare?
3 perfect touch and goes at JQF made it all worthwhile.

Got the Cessna in, found a suitable hole about 2 North of the field. Good
breakfast although attendance, as expected, was somewhat sparse. Quite a
few neat aircraft based here including a P-51 and a single engine turbine
Baron. Sorry to miss you guys, 2 questionable weather days in a row !!

Dale, Dean, anyone else not yet registered (Wayne8A, Millsaps...) don't
just concentrate on B there are lots of motels on the island, most within a
two block walk of the Crew's Inn. Hit Google, start calling, get details,
post your results back here for the rest to reference. The RVers may just
have to rent out the entire island if interest is high enough <g>

Dale: try the Captain's Landing and tell them you're a private pilot. Owner
is ex-airline capt. He cut our friends some slack one year... worth asking.

Tried to call Mike at Crew's Inn this morning to make a reservation and got
their answering machine. Called him again this afternoon since he had not
called me back. Said he had just sold the last room! He never checked for
messages.
Anyway.............did a search for other B&Bs on Ocracoke. They are more
expensive as expected but the real problem is that they have a seven day
cancellation policy. Don't think I trust the weather forecast seven days in
advance. If anyone finds a B&B that has a more lenient cancellation policy
please let me know.

How many ENT's in your department? Are you EMTALA-obligated to provide 24/7 coverage?
There's a lot of call-shedule liberty taken on our med staff with 3-man
departments and smaller...
Sorry you aren't likely to be a part of this one; we'll miss you.

Four total, 3 in my group. We do provide 24/7, the worst part being the ER.
Maybe one day... You'll have fun!! (like you're not!)

Well,
Lena and I chatted about the weather. Here it was 300 overcast and in places
100 overcast ... clearing up some by maybe 11:00 or 12:00. Then it was to
convert to thunderstorms (per forecast).
We decided to call it a day. Turns out, it did not rain but it got REALLY
hot and HUMID today. Almost unbearable.
James
