For those who want to be part of the trip but didn't get a reservation at the Crew's
Inn in time, here's your link:
http://www.ocracokevillage.com/index.html
For purposes of being close to the rest of the gang, I'd suggest concentrating
your lodging search in the area of Silver Lake, specifically the following establishments:
Anchorage Inn
Harborside Motel
Joyce's of Ocracoke
Bluff Shoal Motel
Captain's Cottage
Captain's Landing
I'm recommending these based on geography only. The Captain's Landing is the only
other one I've personally stayed at (it's very nice.)
We can still manage to hang out together and take side trips and major meals as
a group even if we're scattered across two or three lodging establishments.
Walkie-talkie and cell phone communications should be easy on such a small place.
The facilities listed above are all within two city blocks of each other and Crew's
Inn. We'll want to be on bikes for the bulk of the getting around (part
of the island charm, and a good way to outrun any mosquitos, which BTW aren't
near the problem they once were in ages past.)
If anyone currently registered at Crew's decides to back out, I'd ask that you
tell the List first, so someone else in our group can claim your reservation.
Maybe you can scalp it and make a buck off your RV friends.
Hope this helps someone get off the sidelines and join the fun. I will leave it
to others to plan our formation arrival and the in-flight videography, blog
our travelogue, etc. ;-)

Nice note for the "crew" ("Palmetto Flight").

James,
In behalf of Piedmont Hawthorne, and the City of Monroe, we appreciated all
of your support during the Fly-In on May 21, 2005 at Monroe regional
Airport. The event was a success, particularly with your team kicking off
the activities with maneuvers over the airport. Also, we are looking for
some photos from the event. Please send any that you may have and we will do
likewise. We look forward to working with you in the future.
Thank you,
Ron Hoe
