Len,
My bird is down for maintenance (unexpected delay), just
talked to the mechanic, he's not sure if it will fly by
Friday or not. Don't know when the drop-dead time is to
release my spot, but will waive off if the OVRV guys think
it's getting too late. If you have contact info for the
ringmaster, I would appreciate it. BTW, I bought Denny's old
Extra, but haven't flown it enough to take it out of town
comfortably yet, and pretty sure it wouldn't mix well with 3-
ship or larger formations anyhow. Scott

Hi Scott,
At this point you are good to go. Please take your time and don't rush things
with your plane or flight planning on our account. Fly safe and we'll see you
when you get here.
As a reminder, in order to fly on Saturday you MUST attend the ground school
on Friday evening. Pizza is at 6pm and the presentations start at 7pm.
If you miss the ground school and show up on Saturday you'll still have a
good time with the gang!
Thanks for the heads up and again.....no 'gotta get there itis'..smile!
Rick

Guys:
We are planning at the moment to meet at Winston Salem (INT) on Friday
morning at 10:00am for briefing for the 1 1/2 hour flight to PKB. Meeting in
Winston since James is going to come up on Thursday night and stay at my house
... that means two planes already at INT.
All are welcome to join up with us ... need to come for a ground planning
session with us though as we plan to get some practice in on the way !!!
The plan as of now:
Fly into INT ... come to Len's hanger ... #23 South Tee Hangers ... front
row facing runway 4-22. We can check wx and plan there ... planned launch to
PKB at 10:30am. If anything changes I will post it to SERV.

Ohio Valley RVators,
Heads up....keeping an eye on the wx from all directions....so far
the early forecast is looking very doable! Hmmmmm....did Rick just
say....'very doable'??? What does he mean by that??? I'll tell ya'
what that means.....basically, again early on.....Ohio wx is calling
for scattered Tstorms late afternoon on Thursday, Friday, & Saturday
then looking severe clear on Sunday.
Well, what does that mean to all of you?? It means that you should
have no problem getting here but you may run into a Tstorm somewhere
on the way. Fly around it or set down till it passes then bring it on
in. If we have a Tstorm at PKB during your arrival then sit it out
and it should be gone in 20 minutes.
Cloud coverages looks like scattered at 3k & 6k...again...early
report. The real good news will be RTB on Sunday.....looking superb
for the all up and return in all directions.
There you have it....so far we are T Minus 45 hours on the count down.
I'll have the work on the fuel tomorrow and will post here....you
won't pay anymore than $2.86/gal (self serve) and I'm hoping it will
be cheaper.
Looks like we may have more hangar space than I thought....I got 20
bucks OFF the normal overnight hangar fee so you only pay 5
bucks/night if you want inside...again....first come 1st serve (after
Falcon/Team RV/Buckeye). If you want 'in' be sure to let me know when
you arrive.
Parking - keep 'em nice and tight gang.....we gotta' get 45 RV's on
the ramp on top of the normal traffic....plus some Indy guys coming
in Saturday to say hello. This includes Flight Leads....when you
bring your flights in/out Saturday keep 'em tight.
Be sure to bring:
- your safety cap
- your kneeboards.....I NEVER fly formation without my kneeboard
- a couple pencils, I get tired of loaning mine out....if aren't
writing when your flight lead is briefing then he is going to either
think you know it all or you don't know anything.
- Money (cashola/centabos/dinero/greenbacks)
- Credit card(s)
- you little wheel chocks...the airport only has the BIG ones and
they don't fit under RV wheel pants....last year Steve Campbells RV
(sorry to beat a dead horse Steve) rolled into the fence and busted
his rudder....and Lefty has a busted up wrist from chasing down an RV
a couple months ago.
- your best attitude
- your best smile
If anybody has any
problems/issues/concerns/criticism/misunderstandings or whatever with
any of the PKB staff/line guys/Control Tower/fellow pilots or me or
whoever....please come to ME and let ME know so I can take care of it
asap.....we aim to please :
)!!
Oh yea...if your are DRIVING in.....park at the MAIN PARKING this
year right in front of the terminal by the Hertz car rentals. Get
your ticket and write 'RV' on it.....when you leave you will NOT have
to pay for ANY parking. Any issues let me know and I'll sick The Dogg
on 'em.
Exception to the above is our 2 courtesy cars and Dan Lloyd's taxi
bus for transportion to/fro the hotel. Dan, you park where you did
last year and the courtesy cars will be parked alongside Dan or
inside the fence with me.
When you arrive....BE SURE to sign in with Lefty in the UPSTAIRS of
the General Aviation building on the main ramp....same as last year.
Also, if you don't have your name on your shirt PLEASE wear your name
tag (Lefty has 'em) so we all know who you are.
Oh yea...looks like we have a 172 and maybe an Archer for the photo
ships....cross your fingers.....anybody that likes to take pics and
is not flying.....bring your camera....I may need you to take pics
from the photo ship(s).
Also, we will probably do some media rides sometime over the weekend
and possibly for the all up on Sunday. Volunteers are always
appreciated. If you get approached by any media folks....be sure to
mention my name and tell them what a great guy I am....smile.
Thanks gang,
Rick at the Buffalo Farm - hey Flaps....you just show up....I got it
all under control buddy...ha ha
