This is a "fly-out" that is planned for the group this Saturday, weather permitting. I checked and all of the SERV gang is welcomed to attend. Anybody "IN"??? James --------------------------- Here's the latest on the June 18 242 Fliers Fly-out. We will be flying to Phil Essey's grass strip just over the South Carolina / North Carolina line. The coordinates for the strip are: 34-41.4 N 79-27.4 W The field is approximately 4 miles south of Laurinburg. It is 8 miles southwest of MEB Laurinburg Maxton airport. Another landmark is three miles to the west of the field, a large horse barn with a green roof and a lot of white fencing. There are three hangers on the field, two small ones on either side of a large quonset building. Painted on the concrete in front of the hangers is an Air Force star in a circle symbol. The 35 / 17 runway is in excellent shape and is 75 feet wide by 2800 feet long. Cessna 421s and Caravans have landed there often, and recently 3 or 4 RVs dropped in. Phil has one rule for the field and that is no buzzing the field allowed unless some one can watch and some one is always watching. Phil will serve us hamburgs and hotdogs around 12 noon. The BBQ house he wanted to take us to isn't open until 5 PM. He's planning on our arrival around 10:30 AM. The field is 87 miles from CUB, so we should meet at the SAC at 8:15 - 8:30 for a briefing. The Champs and 140s leave about 8:45, the 172s about 9:15, and the RVs leave about 9:45. So far I have 8 - 10 expecting to go. More are welcome and wanted! Email me at artlynch@avidaviator.com or call me at 794-3215. Leave work on the answering device if you don't catch me. All the best to you, Art Lynch Avid Aviator
