Thanks for the invite. Phil's is always a fun place to visit. I'll add
it to the SERV calendar.
I'm down for maintenance for at least another week. Have fun!

Then you'll have to backseat with Leggs next weekend, and fly behind that pieced-together
Lightspeed ignition (man, am I glad I didn't buy one of those).
I know it only _looks_ like you're avoiding Stormy's place, but your track record
is, well, let's just say you're listed as AWOL.

Reminder:
Stormy's Third Annual Fly-in River Blast at Hop-Along Airfield (12VA) is on for
Saturday, June 25th (somebody please add it to the calendar).
Arrivals starting around 10am, lunch from noon-2pm, optional river tubing trip
from 2-4 (bring a bathing suit and towel, sunblock). Some tubes are available
here, but it would help if everyone who has one would bring an inner tube for
their own use Air for inflation available on site. We will provide a place
to change clothes, and shuttle service to the put-in (take out point is off the
end of the runway :-)
Lunch will be served at 12:00 - BBQ from the Homestead Resort, with baked beans,
slaw, potato salad, chips and drinks! Donations accepted but optional. BYO
dessert if you want to. If it's too much trouble, just bring yourself and your
water sports apparrel.
The river level is good, thanks to recent rains, and the water temp is now quite
nice for tubing and general relaxation. The Cowpasture River is the only entirely
unpolluted river left in the state of Virginia, and we front on a half-mile
of it :-) You won't be sorry if you add this activity to the usual hangin'
out and eatin' we do at these get-togethers.
Hugely spacious and private camping sites are, as always, available for any adventurous
souls who want to pitch a tent beneath their wing or down on the river
bank by the fire pit. You can use the house plumbing and other amenities if
you're not truly self-sufficient in the wild ;-) We even have AC available by
long extension cord for the CPAP/BiPAP crowd. The red carpet is rolled out
for anyone who wants to camp Friday or Saturday nights as part of their fly-in
experience. Just let me know so I can mow...
I have planned the food this time so that our family can take care of any leftovers,
so I'm really cool with the turnout whether it's many or few, and there's
no real need to RSVP. I'll make the weather call Friday evening, and the rain
date will be July 2, the following Saturday (knowing this is Crossfire's fly-in
date).
Hope to see you all here!

Emagair informs me my order went out today... dual P-mags on the way. Woo-Hoo!
I'm sure to gain 15 hp and 25 kts (yeah, right...)
But at least I can quit wondering how far beyond TBO a throw-away Slick mag will
actually go.

Stormy,
I'm looking forward to your results....
We would like to add EI to our -6's here in Louisa....but I have to say...it
looks like the EI have needed more work than the mags have....
Maybe the EI guys should keep a spare mag around so they don't miss "SPECIAL
EVENTS" like your fly-in.....
We are looking forward to your fly-in and should be there with bells
on...smile
I read a very good report on Dougs Forum about the E-P mags and copied here
in case you didn't read it.

I have a P-Mag on my RV6 for about a hundred hours now and have been very
impressed with it's performance. The increase in engine smoothness was
noticable immediately and start up is instant, hot or cold. Installation was
very simple since it fits on the engine just like a mag. I have noticed a
drop in fuel consumption of nearly a gallon an hour in cruise. At the same
cruise power setting as before I notice an increase of 3 to 4 mph in
indicated airspeed or I can maintain the same airspeed as before and reduce
the manifold pressure by 1". It is evident thet the P-Mag is getting more
complete combustion out of the fuel charge. In cruise turning off the Slick
mag has no effect at all but turning off the P- Mag results in a very
noticable loss of power (rpm stays the same since I have a c.s. prop). As
far as reliability is concerned so far no problems at all. My new stock
Lycoming came with Slick mags and these have been anything but reliable. The
first one quit at 280 hrs and the second one at 340 hrs. My previous
experience with Bendix mag has been better. I am building an RV7A now and
plan to equip it with two P-Mags. By the way P-Mags are in production and
quite a few have been shipped already. There is however a lead time of
several weeks, so plan ahead.

James, we need you as an official BBQ taster, plus this is your chance to interview
my Dad about his B-24 Liberator / 8th AAF experiences with the Tuskeegee
Airmen...
Hope everything works so you can make the trip next week. We'd be honored to have
you up from Palmetto country, & Patty, too, if she's able.

Torque is really good at eating aluminum shavings, just don't tell my
wife the animal doctor. That's about all the help he offers, cleaning
the floor.
As for going next week, I'm available if someone needs 215 lbs of
ballast.
Back to the basement, to paraphrase Mayor Marion Berry, "Rivets don't

Our EAA Chapter has what we call the "242 Flyers". This is a "fly-out" that
is planned for the group this Saturday, weather permitting.
I checked and all of the SERV gang is welcomed to attend.
Anybody "IN"???
James
James ... I may be testing my airplane Saturday ... may fly down and meet
you there.
