Don't beat yourself up. You did the right thing and he should realize it.
Here is some "rationalization" if you need it regarding 3rd chance. He DID
get three; the first one was when he was "allowed" to land at YOUR place.
:-)
Landing at somebody's place, inviting others up, not having a license on
person, not making sure the owner is contacted before leaving (could have
sat there waiting for you) all add up to your handling this in a nice
manner.
I assume the best in people, so I assume he was NOT a bad guy in any way.
But he should have worked at easing your concerns a bit better, UP FRONT.
What would have been "interesting" is if you would have put the plane in
"the barn" and locked everything up, as if it was a "gift from above". :-)
Now THAT would have made him think about what he did .... for a LONG time.
Finally, if the guy had had a problem (emergency) and had to land or was
LOST and SCARED and DECIDED to land and then talk to the owner when (s)he
arrived, then THAT would have been a totally different matter for me.

As of this morning, my interloper had not left, despite our agreement that he was
to be gone yesterday as soon as it went VFR. To be honest, yersterday's slow-in-coming
VFR was soon followed by TSTMs, but he could have made it out if
it had been a priority. His announced intention is to fly directly home to Georgia
today, rather than hop-scotching to HSP (10 Miles) for the remainder of
his family reunion. We'll see what happens. There's going to be trouble if he's
not gone today.
Vibes, I'm sorry your family trip logistics are getting fouled up. "Got time to
spare? Go by air!"
Maybe you can join us on Ocracoke for Labor Day.
I'm thinking of offering a consolation river trip on the 4th of July for those
who couldn't make "Stormy's" on 6/25 and want a second shot at it ;-)

That Martha King must be digitally enhanced, Larry. Either that, or you have the
hottie control on your VCR set to max overdrive...

Interesting.
If it was clear enough to get to HSP, one would think that he would WANT to
do that. There he could probably get weather and a good tie down (and maybe
even an overnight hangar).
On the other hand, I can relate to not wanting to push someone into the
mouth of a thunderstorm.
I am off to a family reunion as well. There is a little strip not far from
the old homestead (about 2-3 miles) but I would not dare land there without
PRIOR permission. I don't even land at the "local" airport as the services
are shall we say "limited" (they do have some gas though). Instead I land at
KTLH, a full service airport and of someone wants a ride, we take the drive
over. That is what this person should have done and THEN driven over to your
place to ASK if he could land there the next time up.
Today would have been a good day for me to fly but I took a LOT of
medication last night to try and fight off what hit me yesterday. I am
feeling a bit better now but most likely will ride down with a nephew in his
car. That way, I can relax more and hopefully get better by the time we
arrive (tomorrow).
Won't be able to make the consolation event as I will be away for our event
at home (was going to return on the 3rd but my nephew isn't coming back til
the 4th. Oh well.
