Looks like I've got something to occupy me this coming week besides more wild sex, which is starting to get old... =:-) -Stormy -----Original Message----- From: Radomir Zaric <vitez@carolina.rr.com> Subject: RVSouthEast-List: [OT] Dutch F-16s intercept Delta 767 (audio) --> RVSouthEast-List message posted by: "Radomir Zaric" <vitez@carolina.rr.com> Since it's been slow on the list lately. Found this interesting audio recording from yesterday when Dutch F-16s intercepted a Delta B-767. http://www.zap16.com/Intercept%20f16%20B767%20Delta.htm Radomir

--> RVSouthEast-List message posted by: sportav8r@aol.com Too stormy to check 'em out yet. I have an ambitious (for me) test flight regime I want to fly, to get data on various timing settings, but it's been too hot for comfort under that bubble canopy, and too unstable to fly test runs and yield any good data, so the answer is, for now they work fine as replacements for magnetos, with fixed 25 degree timing. For my engine and fuel, they don;t do so well at 25 degrees plus all the variable advance features out to 39 degrees. -Stormy -----Original Message----- From: ben burril <bburril@carolina.rr.com> Subject: Re: RVSouthEast-List: [OT] Dutch F-16s intercept Delta 767 (audio) --> RVSouthEast-List message posted by: "ben burril" <bburril@carolina.rr.com> Hey Stormy, hows the p-mags working out? ----- Original Message ----- From: <sportav8r@aol.com> Subject: Re: RVSouthEast-List: [OT] Dutch F-16s intercept Delta 767 (audio) > --> RVSouthEast-List message posted by: sportav8r@aol.com > > So, the Netherlands has an air force? --> RVSouthEast-List message posted by: "Ron Schreck" <ronschreck@alltel.net> Bill, I ordered Trio's altitude hold autopilot in May. Called them yesterday and they said it would probably ship in early September and I would be one of the first to get it. I have already installed the EZ Pilot. Hope to finish out the instrument panel soon. The GRT EFIS will arrive on Monday. Whoopee! If you want the Trio altitude hold, order now. There is quite a backlog. Subject: Re: Stormy Auto Pilot question
--> RVSouthEast-List message posted by: sportav8r@aol.com Ron- One day at a time :-) I'd be delighted to have the alt hold in time to get the hundred dollars off (Dec. 5th) from Trio. I don't like to hit the household budget with too much avionics at one time- keeps me below the domestic radar intercept threshold <g>. As it is, I'm bidding on Garmin GPSmap 296's on eBay using the three month same as cash plan from Paypal. Desperate times call for desperate measures, and we're putting #2 kid through college without borrowing funds, so it's working so far. My dream panel will have GRT EFIS's one day, afer they get the bugs ironed out. I monitor the GRT EFIS list, and am aware of the many issues still in play. By the time I'm ready to play, GRT will offer a display comparable to MountainScope's pixel resolution and synthetic terrain view, or I'll sadly be forced to take my cash wad elsewhere. That's a field where the ferment is considerable, and the real value will emerge months/years later, when Dynon nips harder at GRT and BMA's heels as they seem to be already. I have come to realize I won't get full flexibility out of the GRT EFIS unless I buy an ARINC frequency-agile NAV/COM/ILS radio to go with it, and boy do they push up the price of the avionics suite. All in all, it's a heady time to be in homebuilding and experimental aviation: the golden age of avionics. -Stormy do not archive -----Original Message----- From: Ron Schreck <ronschreck@alltel.net> Subject: Re: RVSouthEast-List: Stormy Auto Pilot question --> RVSouthEast-List message posted by: "Ron Schreck" <ronschreck@alltel.net> Bill, I ordered Trio's altitude hold autopilot in May. Subject: Ocracoke trip
--> RVSouthEast-List message posted by: sportav8r@aol.com Everyone making plans for our adventure next month? I'm looking foward to some island R&R. If anyone has to drop out, let us know; there's a waiting list to get into the B-) and we can quickly fill your vacancy if we know about it in time. We'd better watch our step around the beaches, though. Political correctness has apparently escaped from the asylum and is headed for the outer banks, witness the following: **************** Regarding the redistribution of your income... The U.S. Department of Interior is requiring National Parks in the Southeast to allocate armed law-enforcement rangers for critical 14-day-rotation details with full reimbursement for travel expenses, per diem costs and overtime. You might assume they are being assigned for Homeland Security tasks supplementing protection for dams or critical points of the national infrastructure. Perhaps they will be sent to help protect our porous southern border from nefarious drug gangs and terrorists. No, these officers are being deployed to Cape Hatteras National Seashore to guard the nests of Piping Plover birds from being tread upon by beach strollers. Well, actually there are no nests, but two male Plovers have been seen exhibiting courtship behavior with one female Plover. Last year, two Least Tern chicks were found dead in an ingress area for visitors, and environmental groups are outraged. After all, the birds are protected under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act. So armed NPS rangers will now escort all visitor ingress and egress to make sure no non-existent bird nests will be disturbed. At this writing, reports indicate that birdwatchers (the tree-hugging variety) in line for escort outnumber beach comers two to one. No word on whether deadly force has been authorized against anyone attempting to enter without escort. ************** So... if an armed Park Ranger sidles up next to you while you're strolling the beach, better give him a call on Guard (121.5) and see if he wants you to follow him. Better hope you don't have Plover yolk on the bottoms of your flip-flops, either. I tell you, it's getting crazy out there. -Stormy
