I went there on Labor Day a few years ago. The ramp was full so I parked
in the "grass" of the side of the ramp towards the runway. If you are
overnighting, you might want to bring a tie-down kit.

Good feedback, guys. Thanks for the heads up on the Cowtown to Carolina
races, Ken. One big task that I don't really have an answer for is how
to handicap the whole thing. I've emailed the U.S. Air Race guys (and a
couple of others too) for information (and offered to share my info with
them). If I can work out a fair and accurate handicap program, this just
might work. You know what kind of airplane won their big race in 2003?: A
Piper Lance!!

Okay, here's the plan. First few to get there, park just close enough together
that no one can quite squeeze between you. Take up five places with three planes.
Then as more SERV members arrive, we juggle the planes already there to
shoe-horn the later arrivals in. Can you say "Apron Rage?" ;-)
When those of us who will be biking while on the island get ready to leave Howard's
after dinner, we tell the waitress to save the table for the Bowens, who
left the cottage same time we did for dinner, but are walking...
I'm going to call ECG now to verify their fuel supplies. I've heard nasty rumors
about shortages of motor fuel all across the Carolinas, including some hams
on the air this morning discussing whether it would be foolish to trek to the
Shelby Hamfest this weekend, given the possibility of no gas to get back home
with. Sobering. Maybe this will thin the crowds on the island a bit, but I
doubt it.
Sure hope the Millsaps' adventure turns out okay.

Are there any Taxi's on the island?
I'm planning on leaving the house at 10 AM. This should get us to Ocracoke

Good thing I called to verify fuel at ECG; the fellow offered me fuel tomorrow
at today's price, and it was going to be jacked right after we spoke today. Somewhat
moot point since I can carry enough for a round trip plus reserves (barely)
but I've been want ing some avgas for awhile now, to run some tests with
the P-mags. Ron is right: 100LL now costs what I pay for premium mogas.
