Steve,
The landing gear are different, but the change is probably fairly
straight forward. On the taildragger, the main gear are attached to the
engine mount instead of to braces on the spar. You'll have to remove the
main mounts (to save weight, probably wouldn't hurt to leave them there
otherwise) and get a new engine mount which you'd probably planned on anyway
due to the O-320. The Tailwheel bracket is a pre-made steel unit that is
attached to the rear bulkhead but you'll probably be able to get all the
access you need through the top after removing the horizontal stab.
Good luck,
Marcus

the 6-A main gear legs are the same as the tail dragger ?since i want to
convert it. i'll have the belly skins off to add whatever holds the
tailweel
in place. it came with a chevy vortec v6 firewall forward which i'm gonna
sell, i want a
0320 for power & turbo it. by the way i'm currently flying my homebuilt
KR2
N212KR i built powered with a turbo corvair eng. there's a 9 page story
on it in sport avaition may,05

Larry,
Champion recomends .018 to .022. They sell a gauge for this purpose Aircraft
Spruce P/N CT-450 with the two sizes necessary, but any wire gauge will
work.

Kennebec's Fall fly-in will be held on October 1 (Saturday week) starting at
around 11 am. There will be a lunch purchasable on the field, and most
likely ice-cream. Apparently the Spring event had a good turn out and was
quite fun.
For once, I don't have business travel so I hope to see some of you. We
could do some formation practice after if you are interested.
Airport information can be found at http://www.airnav.com/airport/78NC
By ground, it is just between Fuquay Varina and Angier, along side NC 55.
Hope to see some of you there.

This summer I've been noticing a very surging in my engine rpm (about +/- 20
rpm) when close to idle after flying (e.g. in the pattern or on the ground
after landing). It does not always happen (even on the same flight) but I
wonder it's a high temperature thing. (Since we've had no cool temps for a
while, I can't really test that.) I have a fuel injected IO-360 and it
happens even if the boost pump is on (my boost pump is in the cockpit). All
the fuel hoses are fire sleaved. I have a couple of cooling blast tubes
going behind the engine, one to the mag, one just there.
Any suggestions, please?

Still, I was impressed with the precision of the rollout, and

Very precise landing - but there was no foam.
It appeared to me that the pilot didn't use thrust reversers, ground
spoilers, or brakes. He simply let the energy dissipate along the length of the
runway to avoid putting downward pressure on the nose strut.
