      George,

I just finished building my RV-8 panel. I have the Dual GRT EFis and Trio Autopilot
with altitude hold. GRT gives a lot of press to Trutrak but the Trio is
fully compatable with the GRT EFIS. If you compare features, the Trio comes
way out ahead. Their customer service has been superb and the quality of the
components is beyond great. I haven't flow yet, but I am already sold on the
Trio. Feel free to email me direct if you have any questions or come by and have
a look. I urge you to make a direct comparison of the features of each system.
To my mind, the Trio came out way ahead.

I hope this question does not stir things up, but I am ready to close the QB wings
on my 7A and I want to install autopilot system. I have two choices Trutrack
or Trio, I know very little about autopilots and I do want to use the Grand
Rapids EFIS dual screen system. So here is the question what is the system with
the best features and value and how is this going to fit in to my needs, I
am interested in flying 98% of the time day time VFR and around 300 to 500 mile
      trips.
      Any help will be welcomed.

I think either choice is a good one. I have a first generation TruTrak,
recently updated to current specs (gratis). Their customer service is also
good. If I had to do it again, I'd look hard at their ADI AP product.

I have the Trutrak DFC-250 and it is amazing! It will fly the ILS needles
centered to DH. I had some trouble at first, but TruTrak worked with me
until all the problems were solved. (I was one of their first customers.)
I'm definitely putting one in my RV9A.
