FAA TO ESTABLISH TFR OVER GREENSBORO ON MONDAY
AOPA is sending this message to advise pilots in and near Greensboro,
North Carolina, that the FAA is expected to issue a notam restricting
flight in the area during President Bush's planned visit on Monday,
December 5.
Based on information from the FAA, the president is scheduled to be in
Greensboro sometime Monday. AOPA anticipates that the notam will
establish a large temporary flight restriction (TFR) limiting general
aviation flight. Typically, these presidential travel-related TFRs are
60 nautical miles in diameter (30-nm radius) and contain one or more
smaller general aviation no-fly zones. AOPA will post the notam on AOPA
Online ( http://www.aopa.org/whatsnew/notams.html ) as soon as possible
after it is issued. A graphic will also be available.
Because TFR airspace frequently changes, AOPA strongly encourages
pilots to obtain a briefing and CHECK NOTAMS before every flight.
TFR violators will be intercepted and forced to land.
==> AOPA ADIZ NATIONAL PILOT ALERT <==
Thank you for your strong support in response to AOPA's National Pilot
Alert requesting comments in opposition to the FAA's proposal to make
the Washington, D.C., Air Defense Identification Zone permanent. We are
deeply concerned that if these airspace security restrictions are made
permanent, they will serve as a template for restrictions in your area.
If you haven't taken the time to comment, please do so by using the
points in the AOPA National Pilot Alert you received in the mail or by
referring to AOPA's Member Action Center: Operation ADIZ
( http://www.aopa.org/adizalert/ ) for details.
