Since Thanksgiving when my in-laws came to visit and my father-in-law and I spent three days locked away in the basement working on the -9 I've made a concerted effort to not work on the plane and help my wife with Christmas "things". (hunting down the perfect tree, putting up decorations, Christmas shopping, visiting her friends, etc. Hey, there are plane parts on my Christmas list.) Nora is really great about the time and money I've spent on the plane so I figure it is the least I can do for her. Then, just yesterday afternoon around 4-4:30, there I was, outside putting up the Christmas lights when off in the distance I hear an airplane. Like all of us pilots, my head shoots up, scanning the sky. Then I spot it, a fast moving, darkly painted low wing heading south. As it gets closer I easily identify it as an RV, when it flies almost directly over my head I recognize the blue navy paint job with the arrow on the tail. Damn that Ben! Now I feel like I've been neglecting my RV so I'm proposing to the FAA that they establish a ADIZ over my house until I'm finished. I also posted this on the matronics page. Here is the update on my 7A. I am finished with the painting. Let me repeat that finished. I am now starting the run to assembly. (carefully assembling you know). I have no anticipated date, however the engine is hung, the baffling is installed as well as the instruments etc. What is left is to finalize the lighting connections and button her up. More posting as they come. Needless to say my time will be spent mostly at Goose creek in the bitter cold of winter. Likewise, for the campers who need transportation for meals, etc., I am willing to do some driving. As a minimum, I would have room for 3 to 3.5 people per trip. If I have the SUV that weekend (probably will) I'll have room for 4 per trip. I live in Tampa and will be coming to the flyin on the 13th and 14th. May have to make other transportation arrangements on the 15th. I always enjoy seeing all the planes and meeting other pilots. So, if you're coming and need a cheap (free) taxi, let me know and we'll prearrange for rides. Or maybe I could just leave my car at SnF and you guys could arrange among yourselves for transportation. What do you think? Besides, Ben can equip his -6 with external stores and if I miss him, he might just come back hunting for me. Bill ________________________________ Message 7 _____________________________________ Time: 06:44:32 PM PST US From: "Bill Repucci" Subject: RVSouthEast-List: Strobe wiring question --> RVSouthEast-List message posted by: "Bill Repucci" I'm in the process of wiring my strobe lights and I have a question about the grounding wire. I was advised not to ground the braded wire at the wing tip. My setup will include a quick connect at the wing tip, wing root, and again at the strobe power head, which will be mounted under the baggage compartment floor. My question is this, what should I do with these grounds? if I do not ground the wires at the wing tip, wing root and power head, should I make a provision to connect all the grounds together and then run a ground line from the power head to the common ground on the firewall? Thanks for the help. Bill RV-9 All I know is I have this fully assembled airplane in my basement and some day I'm going to have to figure out how to get it out. www.repucci.com/bill/baf.html ________________________________ Message 8 _____________________________________ Time: 07:37:35 PM PST US From: "Larry Bowen" Subject: RE: RVSouthEast-List: Strobe wiring question --> RVSouthEast-List message posted by: "Larry Bowen" I grounded each end locally.
