Quick update to any who are interested. Tad Sargent
and I just returned from LAL gathering for RVs. About
40 planes made it. All from Fla. except us. Yes the
Sunday wx. stopped a few from going. We actually came
back Sat. pm to KCUB since everything N. was socked
in. Thx to the EAA 242 group for dinner, hospitality
and a car to get home. Will go pick up [plane when
sun returns. We saw some nice planes, and some
ordinary ones. 1st RV-10 we've seen, average
workmanship, but neat to see. Several 7s and lots of
8s included a bunch of formation guys from Spruce
Creek. Wx. was great S. of Columbia and trip was fun.
Just couldn't make that last 90 miles. Thx too to Ed
and Mark Scoggins for help getting away Fri. (seems my
batt. was balky, but Mark loaned me a spare.) the 82
degree wx. felt like SNF in April...lets hope its that
nice in 3 months. Reno Red

Hi Guys,
I just read an very informative web site about liability.
http://www.aviationlawcorp.com/content/liabhomeblt.html
Most interesting is the following statement under;
http://www.aviationlawcorp.com/content/ownerliability.htm
PERSONAL LIABILITY OF "OWNER-OPERATORS" IN AIR CRASH LITIGATION
First of all, recognize that under most states' laws, if a person is
negligent and that negligence causes injuries, the individual has personal
liability "exposure." Thus, if an individual owner of an aircraft has
"control" of the aircraft and negligently maintains or "operates" the
aircraft so as to cause injury, the owner may be liable. Notice, I am
presently discussing an owner who is also an "operator" such that the
"owner-operator" acts as pilot in command of an aircraft or controls its
use. As we will see, there is an important distinction in liability law
between an "owner operator" and a "non-operator owner". (The FAA uses a much
broader definition of "operator" and doesn't make as clear a distinction
between operators and owners).
FYI
Cappy
