I put the streamlined stainless tail wheel chains on and tried it yesterday. It seemed better than the single arm type. Will try some more this afternoon. --> RVSouthEast-List message posted by: "Steve Glasgow" <willfly@carolina.rr.com> Larry did you use Micro Fasteners on you plane or something else? Where would we get what you used and what size would be appropriate for the fuel tank Service Bulletin. Also what type of tool do you use with them? With limited space I think it might be easier using what you used. Cappy

--> RVSouthEast-List message posted by: "Larry Bowen" <Larry@BowenAero.com> I'm using 8-32 SS hex cap screws. Probably got them from http://mcmaster.com, for example part number 92200A196. They will make getting to the access cover a little easier. I sealed that access cover with proseal only, so in theory it should pop off with a putty knife. All that aside, I'm not sure I'm going to react to the SB right now. I'm sure I have a surplus of those screws at the hanger if you need them. - Larry Bowen Larry@BowenAero.com http://BowenAero.com > -----Original Message----- > From: Steve Glasgow [mailto:willfly@carolina.rr.com] > Sent: Sunday, February 26, 2006 9:13 AM > To: SERV > Subject: RVSouthEast-List: Fuel Tanks > > --> RVSouthEast-List message posted by: "Steve Glasgow" > --> <willfly@carolina.rr.com> > > Larry did you use Micro Fasteners on you plane or something else? > > Where would we get what you used and what size would be > appropriate for the fuel tank Service Bulletin. > > Also what type of tool do you use with them? > > With limited space I think it might be easier using what you used. > > Cappy > > > > > Photoshare, and much much more: > > > > > > > > >

Have had to re-torque screws a couple of times to stop a weeping leak. I was very conservative when torturing the screws originally to avoid distorting the cork gasket. What has worked well for me is a small ratchet tool handle that accepts various screwdriver heads. Hex head drivers are also available that will fit the Allen head cap screws. It is easy to judge the torque applied using this tool set up and easy to get at the tank inspection plates with the fairings remove. Dale Ensing

--> RVSouthEast-List message posted by: "David Davenport" <ddavenport5@nc.rr.com> There were three more RV's from the NC area at I39 Saturday. Ed, we were the first guys landing on 36 after the RV-4 did its imitation of a retract. You were not alone! We came back at 9500 all the way until east of Charlotte, and only needed to come down to 5500 to get into Fayetteville after that. Maybe better weather next year will bring some of the others over. That's a fun trip! --> RVSouthEast-List message posted by: "Larry Bowen" <Larry@BowenAero.com> Ah, now I remember. This is tool I meant to reply with earlier. http://bowenaero.com/pix/amproratchet-.jpg Found it in the bargain bin at Advance Auto for $2.99 or something. One side will drive a 1/4" socket, the other will receive a 1/4" bit. Less than 4" overall length. I've used it often to get into tight spots. It stays in the travel tool kit. .... Supposedly my plane will be ready by the end of the week. - Larry Bowen Larry@BowenAero.com http://BowenAero.com > -----Original Message----- > From: Steve Glasgow [mailto:willfly@carolina.rr.com] > Sent: Sunday, February 26, 2006 3:44 PM > To: rvsoutheast-list@matronics.com > Subject: Re: RVSouthEast-List: Fuel Tanks > > --> RVSouthEast-List message posted by: "Steve Glasgow" > --> <willfly@carolina.rr.com> > > Thanks Larry.
