Have had to re-torque screws a couple of times to stop a weeping leak. I was very conservative when torturing the screws originally to avoid distorting the cork gasket. What has worked well for me is a small ratchet tool handle that accepts various screwdriver heads. Hex head drivers are also available that will fit the Allen head cap screws. It is easy to judge the torque applied using this tool set up and easy to get at the tank inspection plates with the fairings remove. Dale Ensing

--> RVSouthEast-List message posted by: Mike.Munn@fluor.com SS will not rust. Any of the cad plated CS screws can rust. All it takes is a tiny nick (with a screwdriver) in the cad plating and it is violated. Rust will start at the nick and will spread over time. Question is I do not get any confirmation on my EIS, on rpm drop. when applying Carb Heat. I have checked with other rv onwners, they do not understand why? We check every thing...looks OK.. It is standard RV6A....I have checked when taxing,, after temp is hot.. also during flying...on the pattern, nothing... My friend with same RV6a, gets 50 RPM drop even when taxing... He does not have EIS.. has regular gauges.. Any Suggestions, comments appreciated Bert RV6A Do Not Archive

--> RVSouthEast-List message posted by: "Steve Glasgow" <willfly@carolina.rr.com> Can I send a photo on SERV? If so here is the strake. I will also send it to Larry and he can post it if not. Today I got fairly smooth air and believe the things work. Full flap stall speed seemed to drop from 60 MPH to 55 MPH. Also the shutter is gone. Look at the leading edge of the wing and look for the cross pattern of rivets on the fuselage. The middle of the cross is the rivet you drill out and replace with a countersunk screw (nuts on inside of gear legs). The other three holes are just drilled and screwed the same way. A backing plate is recommended. The aft tail is set to 1.125" above the wing. Tape will work well if you want to test them yourself. But if you loose them you buy Cappy a new set. --> RVSouthEast-List message posted by: "Larry Bowen" <Larry@BowenAero.com> Thanks. When did you see it? I went there tonight with Len, but they left before we got there. It gets returned this weekend at the soonest, or maybe next week. They had to strip and re-do the flaps after the black stripes blistered for some reason. No idea what the weight gain is. I'll be doing a W&B before I leave RUQ. PS - Did a couple rolls with Len on the way there. Easy as pie... - Larry Bowen Larry@BowenAero.com http://BowenAero.com > -----Original Message----- > From: Demeylor@aol.com [mailto:Demeylor@aol.com] > Sent: Tuesday, February 28, 2006 8:29 PM > To: rvsoutheast-list@matronics.com > Subject: Re: RVSouthEast-List: 8's only > > --> RVSouthEast-List message posted by: Demeylor@aol.com > > Larry, Your plane looks fabulous. --> RVSouthEast-List message posted by: Robert Dickson <robert@thenews-journal.com> I've got Vetterman's good carb heat muff and a flange mounted directly to FAB (no gap as in plans) and I don't get any drop on my EIS. Like Larry said, I view it more as an alternate air source than carb heat.
