I'm ready to call a DAR. There are three listed in the NC area: Richard Cunningham, Jerry Hughes and Robert Woods. Have any of you dealt with these guys? Tell me who to call. I think it may have somthing to do with the turbine I installed. Actually I noticed my exhust pipes appear longer than earlier RV's, and this may accomplish some change in the note ----- Original Message ----- From: "James Clark" Sent: Sunday, March 05, 2006 10:24 PM Subject: Re: RVSouthEast-List: Sunday Flying > --> RVSouthEast-List message posted by: "James Clark" > > Yes a great time was had. > > We are always glad to see other RVs and RV-derivatives in the air. > > I noticed that Tad's RV had a slightly different sound ... maybe smoother or > more muted. He maybe able to give you an idea when or it might jog their schedule. I did this soon after sending in the paper work. He couldn't guaranty he would be the guy doing the work but soon after he called and set up a date with me. John's phone numbers: direct 704 319-7045 office 704 319-7020 email john.crouse@faa.gov Sorry, was not able to get over while you were home. This week doesn't look much better. I don't have a lot of good things to say ... he was mostly interested in making sure the FAA paperwork was right ... did not even spend 10 minutes looking at the plane. If you are confident the plane is right ... he is okay. He messed me up on the Repairmans Cert and I had to get FSDO office in Greensboro to straighten that out ... he never sent the paperwork in even though I called him several times about it .. he had charge me $100 for that and FSDO was very upset that he charged for something that was suppose to be free. I told them to take it as a formal complaint from me !! Len In a message dated 3/5/2006 4:54:41 P.M. From: "wingnut" --> RVSouthEast-List message posted by: "wingnut" I need to ask what may be a silly question: My brother-in-law is a retired airforce jet mechanic. He's looking for a post retirement source of income. I've been looking at what the used maket for RVs and it seems to me that one could make an OK living building and selling airplanes. I figure there must be a catch or more people would be doing it right? Does the FAA have rules against this kind of thing? Are there some hidden costst hat are not included in the 'cost estimator' tool on the Vans web site? -Luis Rodriguez -N824KF Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=19961#19961 ________________________________ Message 7 _____________________________________ Time: 02:09:02 PM PST US From: "Ed Anderson" Subject: Re: RVSouthEast-List: Building airplanes for a living? --> RVSouthEast-List message posted by: "Ed Anderson" Hi Luis, Basically, the only "valid" reason for building a homebuilt in the FAA eyes is Education and Entertainment. There is no question that some people must prefer to build than fly. They sell them as quick as they build them. Other folks may build one and sell it using the profit from the sale to pay for their second bird with they intend to keep permanently. You can even legally offer your services for pay in "assisting" someone to build a homebuilt. But, you legally can not go into the "business" of building homebuilts for sale. The FAA appears to have long looked the other was on these situation, but recent the more fragrant violations (such as a factory built turboprop "Homebuilt") finally got the FAA's attention and they took action. At least this is my understanding.
