Len, the RV guys down in this neck of the woods are always looking for a
good place to go on a Saturday, so let us know when and at what loaction at
INT, and we'll be there. Let me know if we can bring anything besides hunger
      and good stories/lies.

Just a reminder about the fly-in we are holding in Ridgeland (3J1) on 13
May. I think most of you know about this already; more later, but it is on
the SERV calendar already. Point is, the glider club at Ridgeland has
three large open bay hangars which will be available all day the 13th
(they'll be flying). If the "fly market" idea works well or if it works
out that you all can wait until May, we would have a pretty good venue
there for it. If someone in SERV wants to take advantage of the fly-in and
our covered spaces to put on a "market", please let me know and I'll work
      something out with the club.

I have been talking to a few SERV members about having a fly in / drive in

around the Winston/Greensobro area .... Larry Bowen and I would try to put
        on.
Most of our get togethers now involve flying to destinations ... we
        started
as a builders group with no flying planes ... this could give the local
builders a chance to see lots of RVs and get some deals too !!

Thoughts behind it would be a "Fly Market" type approach where you could
        buy
or sell all those left over parts or instruments ....we could set up
        display
tables, etc and have builders from all around come in to either buy or
        sell.
I know I have enough extra items to build another plane ....

Would love to get some feedback and gauge interest ??

      47477000, they arrived on Monday.

I can see how that will be very handy with all the 8-32 Allen cap screws
you used on the tank covers and I will use throughout my -9. I also
bought the 5 pc. Allen Bit Set from Sears as the above set did not
      include the Allen bits.

      Hi fellow aviators,

The FAA finally showed up this morning, looked over the airplane and my
paperwork and bestowed upon me an Airworthiness Certificate for my RV-8,
"Miss Izzy". The guy was here for less than 20 minutes! He never got
closer than 4 feet from the airplane and scanned my 80-page test program
in less than 10 seconds! I wasn't counting on an inspection as I have
had two visits from EAA Tech Counselors and my friend Jerry Cornwell
(AI) spent about 2 hours with a flashlight and mirror looking over the
      plane this past Sunday.
I called Steve Glasgow and told him to be here by 5 PM to help out with
the first flight. Steve and Lynn showed up and so did several neighbors
and we all waited for my wife, Kathy to get home from work. She arrived
at 5:25 and I was airborne less than 15 minutes later. The flight went
without a hitch. The engine ran smooth, cool and powerful. The EFIS
and radios worked flawlessly and the plane flew straight as an arrow.
The only "correction" needed is a bit of right rudder trim. I only flew
for about 25 minutes, established a stall buffet at 54 knots clean, 52
knots with half flaps and 49 knots with full flaps. After a low pass of
the airfield with the smoke system billowing I touched down and did my
best to suppress the cheesy RV grin. It didn't work. I'm still
      grinning!
I sent some pictures to Larry Bowen, so he should have those on the SERV
      web site soon.
The plane has a Lycoming IO-360 with Aerosport fuel injection, dual
Lightspeed electronic ignitions and a Whirlwind 200RV constant speed
prop. The panel has dual GRT EFIS, SL-30 comm/nav, Garmin 327
transponder, Trio autopilot with altitude hold. Interior is by
Flightline Interiors, belts from Hooker and paint is Imron applied in my
      homemade paint booth.
I'll be tearing up the 50-mile radius around Gold Hill Airpark (NC25)
for the next 40 hours. Hope to have Phase I done in time for
      Sun-N-Fun.
Thanks to Steve Glasgow for lending a third hand whenever needed and
providing lots of back seat time. I'll be seeing you all a bit more now
      that I have wings.

I called Steve Glasgow and told him to be here
by 5 PM to help out with the first flight. Steve and Lynn showed up and
so did several neighbors and we all waited for my wife, Kathy to get
home from work. She arrived at 5:25 and I was airborne less than 15
minutes later. The flight went without a hitch. The engine ran smooth,
cool and powerful. The EFIS and radios worked flawlessly and the plane
flew straight as an arrow. The only "correction" needed is a bit of
right rudder trim. I only flew for about 25 minutes, established a
stall buffet at 54 knots clean, 52 knots with half flaps and 49 knots
with full flaps. After a low pass of the airfield with the smoke system
billowing I touched down and did my best to suppress the cheesy RV grin.
It didn't work. I'm still grinning! I sent some pictures to Larry
Bowen, so he should have those on the SERV web site soon.

Yes, Mike is going to loan me his hammer drill so bolts will get set into
the concrete pad and the structure anchored down - for sure.

Now that's a well-outfitted RV, Ron. What I hope mine will approximate one day

      Way to go! Keep smilin'!!!

Would love to see that GRT setup you have.. I'm considering it as well..

PS. I'm curious about the serial number on the tail -- how did you pick it?

Congratulations, Ron. Sounds like a perfect flight - they way they should
be. Fly off those 40 hours quickly, I figured if you fly 8 hours a day, it
will only take you a week and you can fly to S&F.
Can't wait to see it in the air.
