On Saturday, April 22nd EAA chapter 309 will sponsor a builders workshop
for those interested in learning basic metal working skills.

The workshop will include the construction of a Van's tool box. Lunch
will be provided. The class will be held in the greater Charlotte, NC
      area ( <http://www.eaa309.org/Workshop/bordersmap.htm>
http://www.eaa309.org/Workshop/bordersmap.htm). The price will be $30
      for the day's training.

At the end of the day you will get to take the tool box home with you
along with the skills you will learn.

Sign up by emailing me at buildatoolbox@yahoo.com. The class will be
      limited to 20 people.

Although the kits are provided by Van's (www.vansaircraft.com
<http://www.vansaircraft.com/> ), people who desire to build other types
of aircraft are strongly encouraged to attend.

If you have already built a metal aircraft or are currently building one
and would like to share your experience with others, please email me.
The more instructors we have the more our students will get out of the
      class.

We look forward to seeing you there.

      Toolbox Kit

      Practice Project

The Toolbox Kit comes with documentation, along with all the parts and
rivets needed to complete the toolbox. This training project consists of
several pre-punched parts that are riveted together to form the box and
lid and a hinge to hold them together.

This training project will give you the chance to try several different
styles of riveting, using aluminum parts identical to those that make up
the airplane. The completed toolbox is just the thing for a traveling
tool kit when your RV is done or for holding your safety wire supplies,
      etc. Finished toolbox measures 16"L X 6"W X 4"H.

For those of you interested in LIVING with YOUR AIRPLANE. There are two properties for sale at Big T airport (64GA) just 6 miles from Tarra Field's aerobatic box. Both properties have residnetial accomodations attached to hangars with over 3000 sq ft of hangar space and over 2400 sq ft of living area in the homes. One property has a joint 1000 gal fuel tank. Both properties are located ON THE RUNWAY. One property is asking $399,900 and the other is asking $385,000. These are not currently listed with MLS so save big now on commission with dealing directly with the owners. Currently 4 other IAC members here on the field and we all fly as often as possible critiquing each other. Also we are only a 11 minute drive from Aircraft Spruce and Specialties in Peachtree City, GA. For more information and owner contact info, please contact me at 678-463-5944 or at marksorenson@sprintpcs.com Look up the airport at www.airnav.com or at http://skyvector.com/airport/64GA/Big-T--Air

After we charged my dead battery at RUQ, I followed Ron to Lake Norman. The
pattern was full and there were planes waiting to back taxi on the runway.
We made a loose initial approach (Ron with smoke on), and when he turned
left to continue the pattern I climbed right for Twin Lakes. (The frequency
was crowded, but I did bid Ron farewell -- not sure he heard me.)

I survived landing on the more challenging rwy 27 at 8A7, so I guess I do
remember how to operate my own plane after 9 weeks without. I hadn't even
shutdown before the first admirer was at the hanger. After a couple minutes
there were a dozen people in my hanger welcoming the plane home. Pam and I
both got a kick out of that. What a great airport, that Twin Lakes.

I have several things to do on the plane before the week of SNF, but it sure
is great to have it back!

You're scaring me, Len. 3 on 3 dogfighting? Haven't we lost enough formation
guys this year to midairs? Not to mention someone might try too hard to "win"
and overstress an airframe. RV's don't fly too well with broken wings, especially
those -8's. That's been adequately shown before.

I wasn't there, but this sounds like I can be glad I wasn't.

Be careful, friends. Y'all are not replaceable :-)
