Hi Stormy.....was just checkin' in to see what all my SERV buds are up to!!
A 'fuel tank kit' = 2 gaskets + a little proseal. Yup, that's it. I did the
mod on my 4 and was VERY GLAD I did it. Both 'b' nuts had been installed just
past finger tight. Took about 1 3/4 hours to do both tanks....this included
making and installing anti rotation brackets while it was apart.
You might consider reinstalling the access plate with allen head
screws....will make installation go a lot quicker.

Rick,
I'm planning to yank the tanks to do the mod, only because they've been off before,
and I'm not trying to protect a paint job; I like "room to work" when I can
get it. In that case, will I gain anything by ordering hex head screws for
the job? Never had an issue with Phillips head last time I was in there working
on a fuel sender...
I plan to replace my flop tube with a regular pickup while I'm at it. Never used
a negative-G fuel setup in my flying and never will; I see it as a liability
I put in there more fore resale than anything. That was long ago and I'm wiser
now.

Hi Jim,
You are right!
A Rocket is a modified -4......
But it sounded like Rick has a completed -4, from the quote below:
"I did the mod on my 4 and was VERY GLAD I did it. Both 'b' nuts had been
installed just
past finger tight. Took about 1 3/4 hours to do both tanks....this included
making and installing anti rotation brackets while it was apart."
Thinking he has bought a -4 now too.........what a guy!

I'm not sure this will work. I think all the fuel we use here in Charlotte
comes from the same pipeline. Which comes from the refineries, which is
where Chevron and Mobil and others deliver their loads from the tankers.
Then all the fuel is refined and sent along the pipes to our holding
facility in south Charlotte. Gas is Gas I don't believe you can separate
the who from the what in this case. Another way to reduce our need is to
use our cars less if possible. Or allow drilling in the Gulf of Mexico.
But the environmentalists don't like this idea. But Fidel Castro is doing
that right now, just 42 miles from Florida. Also remember refineries have
dwindled since 1980 we have 85% less than that date.

Hi Bob,
You aren't dreaming :
).
Bought my F1 Rocket kit last June.
Sold my 6 last July 1st.
Bought an RV10 kit last October.....finished the tail and the QB fuse/wings
just arrived last week.
Picked up a 75% completed and about 200% to go RV4 on Dec 22nd down near
Atlanta. It took me 600 hrs over 3 month to finish and paint it. 1st flight was
this past Monday. This will give me some wings till the F1 is done then I'll
pass it on.
Here's a couple pics:

That should bring you up to speed.
Oh....the formation clinic is this month on the 28th, 29th, and 30th. I
think we have about 46 RV's coming..... info here:

Nope...nothing gained if you're taking the tanks off anyway. Just makes
easier access if you removed the plates with the tanks on.
Rick in Ohio at the Buffalo Farm - you SERV guys are cool cats.....I guess
that makes James a tiger :
).
I'm planning to yank the tanks to do the mod, only because they've been off
before, and I'm not trying to protect a paint job; I like "room to work" when
I can get it. In that case, will I gain anything by ordering hex head
screws for the job? Never had an issue with Phillips head last time I was in
there working on a fuel sender...
I plan to replace my flop tube with a regular pickup while I'm at it. Never
used a negative-G fuel setup in my flying and never will; I see it as a
liability I put in there more fore resale than anything. That was long ago and
I'm wiser now.
