Kinda like the owner of a Porsche taking his car to Walmart to get a oil change...... lol Gas is gas and using good premium 93 Octane car gas is a alternative fuel that will work just fine in most of our airplanes. I use it in my RV-4 with no problems whatsoever. I save usually around a dollar per gallon over Avgas. And for me, price of gas does make a big impact, I am a Walmart shopper afterall. I probably burn 10 gallons of hi-test mogas for every gallon of 100LL... the latest round of avgas price increases makes the $2.85 and up for 93 octane seem more bearable. Kinda like the owner of a Porsche taking his car to Walmart to get a oil change...... lol Gas is gas and using good premium 93 Octane car gas is a alternative fuel that will work just fine in most of our airplanes. I use it in my RV-4 with no problems whatsoever. I save usually around a dollar per gallon over Avgas. And for me, price of gas does make a big impact, I am a Walmart shopper afterall. I ran 87 in it for a month or so when I got it and at times I could hear some pinging so the 93 makes sence to me. No pinging or other issues with the 93. Bill, off topic but do you really think your bird will go that fast on that engine and with that fuel burn? I have had 2 other planes with 0-290 engines and both burned between 6-7 gallons per hour at best. In my RV-4 I am burning nearly 7 gallons per hour going 170 mph.
