Are you trying to corner the market on mogas?! Sounds like the gov'ment
boys ought to check into the SSPR.
Your local price ($65) on the AeroShell 15W-50 is a little high. I just
paid $56 including 7.5 percent sales tax on a case of 12 here in
Charlotte. Next time you need a case let me know. I'll pick up and you
can fly down for visit and get the oil. Better for you then a hamburger
flight.

We just bought 3 cases for about 52.00 each incl taxes
from Quarles in Culpeper
I was shocked, because we had been buying it for 38.00

Don't quote me on the oil price (too late, I know) b/c the wife picked it up for
me and I was quoting from memory. Besides, maybe she was padding her expense
account ;-)
The gas price I am confident of, since I pumped, paid and hand-transferred every
gallon myself. Price went up 14 cents the following day (yesterday). Guess
I boosted local demand too much ;-)

Not sure what an SSPR is. Is that like the "SPQR" emblem that Roman soldiers carried
into battle on their standards? Senatus Populus Quo Romanus, for you Gladiator
fans...
What I do know is the Commonwealth of Virginia is going to refund me about 15 cents/gallon
for off-road use at the end of the year. :-) Wish the Feds would
credit back their share of highway taxes, too! Hey, I can dream...

Palmetto Flight, you were awesome!! The Danville Airshow Board was impressed
and are talking about how great a performance you provided. Our airshow FAA
observer was also pleased with your skill level and professionalism. I have
never seen such a tight formation of RVs and perfect timing on the breaks.
Overall the airshow was a big success and a lot of fun! Thanks for being a
part of it.

Thanks Wayne! :-) Good to hear it went well "from the ground".
<And many thanks to Len for all kinds of support for this.>
The Sunday version was better than Saturday as we were weather delayed
**and** one of our members had engine problems, causing us to shift to a
different routine. (Was kinda bumpy especially on Saturday. :-) )
Did you or anyone get any pictures?
James
p.s. Please tell the lady that was on Unicom that Palmetto Flight said
"mucho thanks" for her accomodation *and* accomodating tone of voice. She
was very helpful and made it a lot easier than some "controllers". And with
all the traffic that was happening there, it was nice to know that she was
working with us.

Chapter 8 meets at Mike Steele's airport for a covered dish lunch this
Saturday at 12 noon. For those not familiar with Steele it is a grass
strip 650' elev, runways 18-36 in good condition, located 3 miles South
of Walnut Cove (N63) and is not on the charts. Contact Steele traffic
on 123.0 (same as Walnut Cove). It wll be mowed short Friday and will
be no concern for RV's with low wheel pants. There is a patch of new
grass abount 1/3 of the way down 18 and Mike would prefer that you land
short or long of it to avoid tire skids. It's smooth and firm so no
problem if you touch down on it. Mike is expecting about 45 planes so
watch out for slow flying Cubs. I know of 5 RVs for sure and I hope to
see a lot more.

Around 3:30 I called Tad at work to BS about airplane building (I'm not
flying yet so I can't BS about that.) and mentioned I'm ready for some
help cutting the canopy. By 4:00 he was on the way home to change. He
picked up his son and riveting partner, TJ and they were in my basement
by 5:30. By 6:30 we were done cutting the thing and sipping on some
good bourbon. Needless to say, I haven't picked up a power tool since
he left.
Thanks again for the help Tad! it looks great.
