I even had regular coffee this morning for some extra "lift and thrust." BUZZZZZ! Even our house guest and some of the folks from church have been pressed into service with clean-up detail and making deviled eggs, etc. It's cute how Miriam and the kids have assumed ownership of my RV friends and my fly-in; I'm actually quite flattered and grateful for all their help. The weather man is saying nice things about tomorrow: light winds, mostly sunny, 81 degree high, low TSTM chance. I'll be looking for you guys at 10, and listening on 122.85 :-) -Stormy ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________ Message 3 _____________________________________ Time: 06:36:08 AM PST US From: "Dale Ensing" Subject: Re: RVSouthEast-List: Stormy's latest update Hey Stormy, do your local codes require a PFD on board when floating the river on a tube? Once paid a $50 fine plus court cost for tube floating the Chattahoochee River with my kids without a PFD. Never thought about that. Our river is tame compared to the Chattahoochee, and I've never noticed anyone on our river with a PFD , so I'm GUESSING they're not required. I've never encountered law enforcement on the river either; too far from the places that sell do-nuts, I guess. Use your own discretion; I'm not wearing one... -Stormy -----Original Message----- Sent: Fri, 7 Jul 2006 09:36:52 -0400 Hey Stormy, do your local codes require a PFD on board when floating the river on a tube? The illogicality of it all was that the PFD did not have to be worn. I could have had it tied to the tube and been legal. Any one with any sense would know that if the tube was upset or turned over it, dumping the person into the river, the tube would be quickly out of reach and the PFD useless as it floated away with the tube. Maybe some of the canoeists and kayakers have them; I don't pay them much mind. When the river's at normal heights, there's scarcely a place anywhere in it that's over an adult's chest. You can walk to safety from anywhere if you have a bad upset, which I can scarcely imagine happening, as calm as it is. I have little trouble keeping a cigar lit (therefore dry) for the whole trip :-) The biggest problem I can foresee is a tube going flat midway down. It's a long walk. I might suggest each group carry a spare just in case of that. -Stormy -----Original Message----- Sent: Fri, 7 Jul 2006 13:37:43 -0400 OK I'll forget about the PFD.
