Looks like hydraulic power will be ready to lift the door this Saturday. No - this not another request for assistance - you can just come an watch if interested and nothing better to do{:>). Installed the hydraulic lines and power pack yesterday, hope to get the electrical power connections done today and fire it up tomorrow. Door is still hanging freely with no sag - so far so good. Next phase is to add the sheathing to the door within the next couple of weeks. --> RVSouthEast-List message posted by: "Paul D. Franzon" <paulf@ncsu.edu> There are instructors listed on various Vans web sites, including VAF. None are in NC. I am not aware of anyone local who has an airplane with the right insurance for instruction. They generally require that you have a tail wheel sign off before you do the transition training (if you are going that route). Good luck. -----Original Message----- From: owner-rvsoutheast-list-server@matronics.com [mailto:owner-rvsoutheast-list-server@matronics.com] On Behalf Of David Lee Sent: Thursday, August 10, 2006 10:44 PM Subject: RVSouthEast-List: RV 7 training --> RVSouthEast-List message posted by: David Lee <odlee@bellsouth.net> Hello all, I am in the process of ordering a RV 7 kit. I still have not made the choice of taildragger or trike. Despite Larry Bowen's free ride to Goose Creek last Saturday, he chose not let me land Nifty from the rear seat, imagine that! Anyway, I have only about 3 hours of taildragger time (2500 total) and need some first hand training in a -6 or-7. Is anyone near GSO that can offer this service? I will also be doing triai flights in my instructor's Maule. This is a very different aircraft from the Van's. As I have not started the kit there is still time before a decision has to be finalized, but would like to do some flying in September. If anyone has a suggestion it would be appreciated. Thanks, David Lee

Hello: For those with expertise in electrical...This is the question. if I turn the master switch on, and load any other one, such as landing lights, or strobes anything else...The Ammeter shows charge,, positive.. ( I know it should show discharge, no matter if is a little) EVERYTHING WAS FINE, SINCE FIRST FLIGHT... This started stw days ago... It does no matter if the engine is running or not....Everything else seems to be fine... What say you,,, First step, what to check etc.. Thanks Bert rv6a do not archive .

--> RVSouthEast-List message posted by: "Larry Bowen" <Larry@BowenAero.com> I got some very benefitial training from the Super Decathelon at INT. It has similar manners as the RV, though everthing happens in slow motion. Yes, it's tandem, but I think it still might help. I can give you contact info if interested. -- Larry Bowen Larry@BowenAero.com http://BowenAero.com David Lee wrote: > --> RVSouthEast-List message posted by: David Lee <odlee@bellsouth.net> > > Hello all, > > I am in the process of ordering a RV 7 kit. I don't know much regarding electrical except this. You can't read amps when the alternator is not putting out power. You mentioned this happens whether the engine is turning or not. I feel you have an instrument error. What are you using? Subject: ammeter question
Bert, This is really a stretch on my knowledge of electronics, but I have a THEORY. Depending on the location of your sensor, the draw to could actually be read as a positive charge. If you are attempting to read positive current from the alternator, but your sensor is actually on the battery side of your bus, then the flow to the positive pole (trons don't really go from + to -), would be the same as if you were pushing the electricity from your alternator. This idea could be whacked, but you may consider just changing the location of your amp sensor. I guess I would check if it shows a greater positive current with the alternator running. Just out of curiosity, what ammeter are you using. If it's something like a Grand Rapids EIS then another possibility is the scale and/or offset values got changed somehow. If you don't get a useful response here, you may try posting it on the Aeroelectric Matronics page.
