Thanks, the snag is the magneto only puts out =BD has many pulses as the
Lightspeed ignition so regardless of the setting the right mag
      (Lightspeed)
will register twice as much as the left. I opted to have the electronic
ignition be the =93normal=94 indication since it should be a little more
      reliable.

Marcus check your setting for the EIS if you still read half RPM The
setting should be 1 not 2 for the offset.

The EIS is doing great, thanks for all the help. I ended up adding a
      switch
to select RPM source and then do the math for the Magneto which is only
      indicating 50%.

I've mostly been a lurker here, but I finally got my new RV-10, N585MR,
airborne yesterday and will hopefully become an active member if you are
open to another. I'm based out of Valdosta, GA until next March so
hopefully I'll get my 40 hours done as soon as possible and puts some
      faces
      to the names.

Does anyone have mounted the oil cooler on the firewall instead on the
engine baffles? If so do you have any info as far as where maybe some
pictures or dimensions so it does not interfere with the engine install
and mount.I am installing an IO 360.

      OK here's is the deal.

Len, Larry and Stormy will have bikes at the airport Friday afternoon, so
they don't need a pick up from Crews Inn.

Cappy will plan arrival at 2:00 PM Friday and have Crews Inn on STBY to pick
me and Miss Lynnie up. Anybody else not staying at Crews Inn can probably
get a lift with Cappy just let me know.

Wayne what time do you plan to arrive Saturday? You can have your bikes
delivered to the airport and some of us can meet you on arrival to show you
the way back to the Crews Inn.

      Cappy

Thanks for the info.I am trying to decide where to mount it since some
people are saying that mounting it on the baffles causes them to crack(
the baffles). Also I heard that mounting it on the firewall may run
      hotter for the IO360.

      thanks for the help

It is a 7A and I am ready to mount mine I was goingto do it last night but
stoped because of the fact i have never seen one and i am woried about
mounting it where later it might get in the way. it seems that the left side
of the firewall (lower section) itis not a busy as the rest so I am sure
that is where it is going , also I hope that the hoses will be long enough.

I'll thinking 0930 Sat arrival; but this could be adjusted if needed. I
called about bikes and they would only take a reservation for the week. They
recommended I get them by the day after arrival, and promised me they would
not run out. I called the realty office. Do I need to call someone else??

There have been a few busted baffles, but it's hardly a guaranteed failure.
I think it offers better cooling and when done right, will serve you well
      for a long time.

See attached. I got the tube reinforcement from Dan C. Knock on wood,
      holding up well so far...

Thanks for all the info and pictures I am grateful for having a great tool
with this group and getting all this info .
It seems that it makes sense to mount it on the baffles as far as cooling
and it can be reinforced so it can be more durable.

George I have not seen either as an issue. Bill's 360 cooler is on the
firewall and his temps are fine. My cooler is on the baffle and I have
no cracks. However I did add additional bracing to support the cooler.
Worry about issues as they arise works best for me. I have 140 hours
      TT.

George I don't have any pictures but Reno (Bill Cruthers) has his
mounted on the firewall. You might get him to take a few pictures the
next time his cowl is off.

Does anyone have mounted the oil cooler on the firewall instead on
the engine baffles? If so do you have any info as far as where maybe
some pictures or dimensions so it does not interfere with the engine
install and mount.I am installing an IO 360.

      George,

Give some thought to the other firewall mount items Batteries, Solenoids,
Transducers etc. Mine worked out ok but I had to do some interesting
fittings on the oil cooler lines to get the hoses routed without
interference. I used a triangular shaped mount made from aluminum angle I
had welded up locally. The cooler is tilted down about 45 degrees and the
oil lines enter from the inboard side. If I could offer one thing it is to
plan everything that is going to mount on the firewall make templates or do
what ever works to avoid later workarounds. The planning time will be well
spent, believe it or not it gets crowded on that big firewall.
      just my .02
      Larry

      Cappy
