A reminder to Ocracoke/Mtn group...the mtns are a
drivable trip even if wx is not nice enough to fly
fri/sat. looks like wkend will be nice and cooler w/

Plumb some of it into the engine.
Don't tell Wayne, but we had his O2 cylinder refilled with N2O. He
only _thinks_ he was having a hilarious time, climbing 500 fpm at 15k
in his RV ;-)

Very pleased with the nitrous, I mean oxygen, installation. I had to home
brew my "outlets". It was designed to connect the cannulas directly to the
regulator at the tank. The hole in the baggage compartment floor to reach
the tank valve works nicely. It's very easy to reach.
What really amazes me is how much better I feel after a long XC at altitude,
but not high enough to "require" O2. (Okay, Stormy, take your best shot!)

Seriously, I may want to add O2 later, for just the reason you gave:
feeling refreshed at the end of a x/c that never legally required
oxygen. One more thing for the do-list, after the IFR panel.

I keep watching this space, waiting for someone to blink first.
Whatever's left of Ernesto by then is still forecast to be sitting
over the Outer Banks Friday morning. I don't like it.
Ashe Co. may be a better bet; looks like a 4:15 car trip according to
GoogleMaps. It would be easier if someone else decided for me :-)

No major problems, but no measurable increase in performance, either.
At least in the speed/power/time to climb department, comparing the
various setting on the timing to each other, not comparing to
magnetos. If they ever pay for themselves, it's with longer TBO and
cheaper automotive plugs. Tough call.

Seems everyone is leaning towards cancelling the OBX. It still looks like
it would be possible on Saturday, if you believe forecasts like this:

Inn back up on Saturday... unlikely that folks (besides us) will make
last-minute plans to move into the path of a storm, but... no
guarantees.
OTOH, there's the Thursday am deadline for Plan B.
One option would be to cancel with the Ocracoke stuff right now, but
reconsider if by tomorrow am things at the beach look better for
Saturday. Then call Crews on Friday night (so they can't require us
to rent for 3 nights) and sign up for Sat-Mon.
On second thought, if I were the Inn manager and you did that to me,
I wouldn't give us reservations but say "come and take your chances,
I'll beleiiee it when I see you."

I just talked to the owner of the Island Inn and he said they will have
Villas available should you want to stay just Sat and Sun. and they would
not require a 3 nite commitment. I canceled my reservations last nite and
should the weather clear we will launch Saturday am.

Just talked with Reno and he is reserving the big house (5 bedrooms for
Saturday and Sunday). If someone wants to come on Friday he is sure
accommodations can be had. Furthermore he wants to let those coming on
Saturday know that they need to be there by 12 noon in order to make the
bike ride. Also he wants to know if anyone is interested in a canoe
trip. Cappy is in for that as well as the bike trip.
Let me know what everyone's intentions are and I will relay to him via
phone. He is on his way to the MTN and away from E-Mail.

I just called and left a cancellation message at Crews Inn, as well. Thanks,
Larry for posting the phone number. Things are never simple. They are moving
my son's football game from Friday to Sat 1pm. I'm thinking Cindy and I can
still fly up afterwards and have dinner with everyone and stay the night. No
biking or canoeing, though. At least I'm not at the coast in the storm's
