This is a little late, but I got my Transponder and IFR static check done
and was extremely pleased with the results. In case anyone is looking for a
great place to get this accomplished, I'd highly recommend Dan Smith at D&D
Avionics in Macon, GA (478-254-6552). He's got the latest and most
sensitive equipment and experience with all kinds of systems. He had no
problem getting my Grand Rapids EFIS dialed in and knew the right questions
to ask so we could figure out the programming. He was also the cheapest of
everyone I talked to which was an extra bonus.

Bill and all: Thanks for the heads up; I'll be on the lookout for the New
Years lunch. The Governor's family has a fly-in at his place down here
every New Years Day... we've been attending that for several years now. If
the SERV event is on Saturday or Sunday, that would be great. I do in fact
still have access to my RV-4 but in fact, I sold it to someone here at the
Ridgeland Airport after he saw how much fun I was having in it! I wasn't
going to sell until I was finished with the F1, but he offered to buy it
and let me fly it all I wanted. Pretty good deal for both of us!
Interestingly, Governor Sanford needed to get over to the Hilton Head
airport after their fly-in last year and his brother (who is a huge fan of
general aviation) asked me to fly the Governor there in my RV! It was a
lot of fun: Me, the Governor, two shotguns, a clothing bag, and the
Governor's State of the State speech in a big binder. The "yellow peril"
was full up!! Fun things of all kinds happen in RV's!!!

Guys:
Picked up the merchandise this morning ... have not gone through it.
Palmetto Flight is planning a formation practice on Sunday afternoon
at Monroe (EQY) at 1:30pm ... I will bring the stuff with me .. you are
welcome to pick it up there before we start flying.
Larry Bowen and I have been considering having a Xmas
party/gathering .... if we go through the efforts of putting this
together .. will you come ???
More than welcome to have it at my hanger ... INT is not the best
place though ... lack of parking for airplanes and access to ramp for
dirivers ...
They may be willing to give us the meeting area in the main terminal
... park airplanes below the tower on the apron area and we could be
inside in the warmth ??? Suggest we have a fly market also ... I know I
have lots of stuff left over that I would love to sell ... I suppose
almost everyone does ... we could set up tables and would be a great
opportunity for builders (and flyers) to get good deals on extras !!!
