The biggest problem I have had in the area is the transition from MYR Approach to CRE ... he hands you off when you are right at the CRE airspace or already in it ... you call CRE and tell them and they act like they have never heard of you .. which they probably haven't since MYR Approach just terminates your flight at a horrible time giving you absolutely no time to contact CRE before busting into their space. When MYR ask do you have CRE in sight .... say no until he has to give you over to tower ... or don't use MYR for flight following. Len

I see your problem- what's "flight following?" ;-) Maybe try, "Myrtle Approach, 910LL has Grand Strand in sight (even if you don't); request frequency change to Ass Hat on 124 point 6 before I bust his airspace, over." Y'all have a happy New Year's celebration and we'll catch up with the gang later in the new year. -Stormy On 12/30/06, Lenleg@aol.com <Lenleg@aol.com> wrote: > > > The biggest problem I have had in the area is the transition from MYR > Approach to CRE ... he hands you off when you are right at the CRE airspace > or already in it ... you call CRE and tell them and they act like they have > never heard of you .. which they probably haven't since MYR Approach just > terminates your flight at a horrible time giving you absolutely no time to > contact CRE before busting into their space. > > When MYR ask do you have CRE in sight .... say no until he has to give you > over to tower ... or don't use MYR for flight following. > > Len > >

Not me! He's never actually been a jerk to me. I follow ALL FAA regulations and procedures to-the-letter and never make any mistakes! <grin> It could also be that he recognized the call-signs of the planes I rented as being local and didn't want to stir things up too bad. Truthfully, though, I probably did always contact him outside his airspace. I've actually been surprised that some of my landings didn't elicit some kind of response from the tower: "Nice carrier-trap lieutenant" or "WOW! I didn't know the landing gear on a skyhawk was that strong!" With that in mind, I did not talk to MYR, I just called CRE 20 miles out. All went find until on 2 mile BASE to 05, at 175 knots, he told me to turn LEFT to downwind to be number two behind a skylane who was just entering a downwind from the north. Huh!? It all went down hill from there....... - Larry Bowen Larry@BowenAero.com http://BowenAero.com <http://bowenaero.com/> _____ From: Lenleg@aol.com [mailto:Lenleg@aol.com] Sent: Saturday, December 30, 2006 7:43 AM Subject: Re: RVSouthEast-List: weekend lunch-NMB The biggest problem I have had in the area is the transition from MYR Approach to CRE ... he hands you off when you are right at the CRE airspace or already in it ... you call CRE and tell them and they act like they have never heard of you .. which they probably haven't since MYR Approach just terminates your flight at a horrible time giving you absolutely no time to contact CRE before busting into their space. During 3 VMC IFR approaches to Grand Strand 3-5 years ago I noticed that there seems to be no communication between Myrtle approach and the tower. Having them in sight 6 miles out seems about right. Easy to do once you've been there a few times. Some places work better than others. Don't remember flying with him, but I think I may have taught him to drink. Thanks, Cappy The one about having an accident because they moved the bathroom to the back of the plane reminded me of you. ----- Original Message ----- From: Dale Ensing To: rvsoutheast-list@matronics.com Sent: Saturday, December 30, 2006 9:38 AM Subject: RVSouthEast-List: Fw: Pilot Humor A Golden Oldie----neither of these guys are with us today, but it's still as funny today as it was 20 years ago.
