I couldn't make it to Oshkosh but have been avidly reading the news from those
who made it. The 35-ship pictures are awesome! I wanted to be a part of that...
maybe the 40th anniversary. I haven't heard any new announcements from Garmin.
When they lowered the price of the 496 (cleaverly done just weeks after
I purchased mine) everyone expected some big introduction of a new, big screen,
handheld at Oshkosh. Seems I would have heard something by now. Anybody seen
or heard anything on the subject?
Thanks to all who have sent updates and pictures from the big show. I'm still
stuck in Oregon working the wildfires. Hope to be home in two weeks.

Ron,
Someone posted on the www.vansairforce.net forum that Garmin lowered the
price of the x96 line to be more competitive in their pricing. They
mentioned two reasons for this price drop, excess inventory and their
competitors were coming out with XM weather on their hand held GPS's.
If you (or anyone else) are interested, drop me a note and I will put
you in touch with my source for discounted 496's.

Bill, I am interested in a 496. Sold my 396 thinking Garmin was going to have something
new at OSH......boy, did I get fooled.
