My RV6, O-360 180 HP, now has over 700 hours on it. I have burned premium
auto fuel approximately 2/3 of those hours. I put only 100LL in right
tank. Take off is on right tank only. Inbound for landing at 5 miles the
fuel selector is turned to right tank. On takeoff on hot engine in hot OAT
I sometimes experience pneumatic lock caused by fuel boiling in the carb
(engine runs rough and smokes black). This can happen on 100LL, but is
more likely on auto fuel. I use 6 gal cans for fueling with auto fuel. I
ground to airframe, can and ground. I used metal cans until I had fuel
contamination from the zinc coating on the can. Now I use plastic cans with
ground wire in the "can" and nozzle. I would not use auto fuel with
ethanol. Premium fuel does not contain ethanol as far as I can determine.
It should be marked on the pump if it has ethanol.
There are risks associated with using auto fuel. If you understand the
risks you can make an intelligent choice as to whether it is for you.

I'm looking for a CFI who can train in their RV7 or in my RV7, for
transitional purposes. It is required by my insurance. I am in Charlotte
NC. Thanks.
Bob Newhall out of Chapel Hill may not have time to do it for me.

Subject: | EAA 731 Autumn Leaf Fly-In Sat Oct 20th KMRN |
The leaves on Grandfather Mountain are starting, and
my neighbor's Maple's are starting. EAA 731 timed
it's fall fly-in this year to coincide with the peak
of Leaf Peeking season. If you're looking for
something to do, the fly-in is going to by at
Foothills Regional (formerly Morganton Lenoir) KMRN
Sat Oct 20th. Coffee, Breakfast and Lunch. We will
also be flying Young Eagles. So, spread the word,
encourage non-aviators to come and have a great time,
especially if they are interested in YE.
