This event has been happening close to 40 years and is one of my favorite fly-in's to attend. It is a well run event that does not have a real structured program. It is an aviation social event and the main rule is for you to have a good time. If you are tired of poorly run events with bad facilities, give this one a try next year. It happens the second week-end in October every year and is open to all types of aircraft. There is also a great private collection aviation engines on the field. It is always open for viewing during the fly-in and contains rare engines you might not have ever heard of. Go to http://picasaweb.google.com/RV455J/Thomasville2007 for a few pictures from this year. ________________________________ Message 3 _____________________________________ Time: 06:15:03 AM PST US From: "Ollie Washburn" Subject: Re: RVSouthEast-List: Evergreen Fly-in Garry, Yes you should have gone to Thomasville for a near perfect fly-in. They had over 300 aircraft register which means they probably had many more that didn't register. There was also a lot of Rvs there as we listed it as the Oct. fly-out for the FL. Wing of VAF. I've been all over the internet on this one and can't find much info on the subject. I am flowing 16.9 gph on takeoff at full power but it is not enough to keep my egt and cht numbers down (I'm seeing 1450 egt on takeoff). I'd like to bump my takeoff fuel flow up to around 18 gallons. According to John Deakin's formula, 16.9 gph is about right for 180 hp, but my engine is pumped up a little and needs more gas, I think. I have to throttle back to cool it down and climb at fairly high indicated airspeeds to keep it there. At cruise, all is well. Is the control for this on the fuel throttle body or somewhere else? Don't know what you mean by pumped up? How much etc? I would look into the mixture setting it may be running to lean and causing the problem. Look for the rich/lean adjustment. Call who ever manufactured your Injection System. I have a Airflow Performance and there is a main jet that you can remove and put in a larger size. They also handle Bendix controllers. http://airflowperformance.com/html/cat_16.html Ron Schreck RV-8, "Miss Izzy" Gold Hill Airpark, NC ----- Original Message ----- From: Sent: Monday, October 15, 2007 2:41 PM Subject: RVSouthEast-List: Fuel Flow Setting > > > Anyone know how to increase the fuel flow to my IO-360 during takeoff? > I've been all over the internet on this one and can't find much info on > the > subject.
