If you're interested in attending an Aeroelectric Seminar in the
Atlanta area, I'm trying to round up enough to get Bob on the calendar
for some time in 1Q 2008.
Please email me privately and I'll add you to my "interested" list.
Thanks,

I have tried several times to crack the code for transiting the ATL
airspace, but can't seem to find the right phrase. I'm planning a trip
leg (IFR) from Columbia SC to Birmingham, AL. The direct route goes
right over Atlanta. I've come to expect a 30-mile divert around ATL,
but never know when or in which direction we'll be pushed. Altitude
seems to make no difference - I've been diverted at every altitude
between 8000 and 19000 ft. The chart shows the top of ATL at 12500.
Is there some secret phrase for transiting directly over ATL?
Or is it just not done?

Thanks Folks -
VFR w/ flight following may indeed be the answer. This E-W trip is not
one of our common routes. Most often we're heading 050 or 230, more or
less. And we usually file Direct, are given Direct, and just about the
time we get to the 30-mile veil, get a re-route. You'd think that after
eight or ten trips I'd learn to just plan on it and file it that way...

Transiting ATLNeal,
You must just be having bad luck. I used to fly over ATL routinely at
8k and 9k. Never a problem making the same trip. Occasionaly they
would have me to go Greenwood and Athens but most of the time right over
the top.
BTW, I am one of the RV 7 builders James referred to @ CUB.

Here's a link with all the details. Bob charges $185 for the weekend
seminar. Expect some surcharge above that for facility, lunch, or breakfast
spreads and such.
So far I'm about half way there in rounding up enough folks to book Bob.
