Scottsdale, Arizona, here we come! Because there is so much to do in the area, flying and otherwise, I want every day to be Freestyle. You pick and choose what you want to do. If you want to stay the whole week like some of us, thats great. If your schedule wont allow for a whole week just spend two or three days. Couples and singles are both welcome. If you want, have your family or friends meet us in Scottsdale. Even if you dont currently have an airplane, there will be several singles you can fly with and share expenses. See Attached files: Tentative Flight Plan "FP to SDL1.1", "FP to SDL 2.1", Next Adventure Bookmarks and The IN List. Metronics won't accept the Next Adventure Bookmarks so if want to see them contact me off list. Put the Tentative Flight Plan in your flight planner at 150 kts and see what you think. I made it from Concord, NC (KJQF) to Scottsdale, AZ (KSDL) with tentative fuel stops and planned layover stops. As you know if you made last years trip, the best part of the trip is flying together as a group, and everyone being together at overnight stops and our destination. The idea is, we all meet up and fly out together. Spend as much time as you can spare in the area and then fly home in groups or as individuals as you desire. After I get a good idea of who is IN, I will start working on group rates for hotel, transportation, hangar space, tie-downs, fuel, etc. The tentative plan for those leaving from NC, is to fly to Baton Rouge, LA (KBTR) together or individually as desired. We spend the first night, Friday, May 30, in Baton Rouge, and meet everyone else there. Baton Rouge is an old southern town on the big river with casinos and lots to enjoy. The next night, Saturday, May 31, the plan is to spend the night in Carlsbad, NM (KCNM). If you are interested, we can all tour Carlsbad Caverns on the day of arrival or the next morning. The third leg of the trip is only 3:12 to Scottsdale, AZ (KSDL) and what I call Base Camp. So that makes our arrival at Base Camp, Sunday, Jun, 1. So far five couples have already made reservations in Scottsdale from June 1 thru June 7 at The Westin Kierland Villas. This place is a bit pricey but they have a more reasonably priced sister facility The Westin Kierland Resort and Spa which is co-located. Additionally, there are many other accommodations in the immediate vicinity. Dont worry. There will be plenty of choices for hotels, transportation, etc. Now check out, Next Adventure Bookmarks. Truly some, unbelievable sights! If what you see here doesnt make you want to be IN, I dont know what will. My vision is three day trips together from Base Camp. Trip #1: Petrified Forest, Meteor Crater, Painted Desert, Sunset Crater Volcano, and Sedona, AZ (KSEZ). I plan to have lunch and spend the rest of the day in Sedona before heading back to Base Camp. Total flight time 2:40. Trip #2: Monument Valley, Lake Powell to Page, AZ (KPGA) for gas and lunch, then Marble Canyon, south over the Grand Canyon and back to base. Total flight time 3:40. Trip#3: Peach Springs, over the Grand Canyon west, Lake Mead, the Hoover Dam, and back to base. Total flight time 2:40. We can safely do all three trips and be no higher than 10,500 for only about 15 minutes. The rest of the time, we should be between 6,500 and 8,500. Ill be sending these three flight plans as soon as I know who is IN. Speaking of IN, its time to get serious. Knowing who is IN will help me plan the adventure better. Even if your name is currently on the The IN List, or you feel you would like to make the trip with us let me know by April 1. Please dont ask to be placed on The IN List unless you are very serious. If I dont hear from you by April 1, I will assume you are OUT. No one will be totally committed until reservations are made and we depart. I can and will be able to make last minute adjustments. If anyone knows someone else that may be interested, please have them contact me. Everyone is welcome. Please let me hear from you by April 1. No rain date has been scheduled because of the proximity of Easter and SnF. However, the Saturday following Easter, March 29th, we will have the Young Eagles flights at IPJ the following Saturday. There are a BUNCH (60 +/-) kids signed up and we need planes and pilots. Please contact me off list at bill@repucci.com, if you are interested in helping out.
