Subject: | Papa Juliette Update ... |
As many of you know, I did not make the "Cappy's Great Adventure II (out
west again)" or the PDK Airshow.
Some of you know that a major contributor to that is a lack of an engine on
N996PJ (Papa Juliette) :-) :-).
Since I have been asked by several of you, here is the summary scoop.
---------------
- Time Over 1000 hours! (Great for engine that came with the "project"!)
- After KLKR "event", (last week in May) went straight into annual condition
inspection with local engine guru taking a look at #4 cylinder (been burning
some oil for a while now).
- Decided it needed to be replaced (precautionary move... probably would
have worked another 500 hours with nothing done)
- Noticed some wear on lifters and cam. (Must split case to fix that and
Patty and I want to fix it!)
- Call up Sue/Bart (Aerosport Power) to "git 'er done!". Sue gives me
shipping contact. All is well so far.
- Long story short. Engine ***FINALLY*** arrived Friday!!!!!! (Please do not
ask me any further questions about the shipping situation. Sue and I are
BOTH not happy campers.)
- Aerosport will do what they can to help me in my efforts to get to SQI and
OSH. Good people.
- I think the local crew here at Owens are setting about 9:1 odds that I
will NOT make it in "Papa Juliette" :-(
- I am NOT giving up. Hope to finish the annual condition inspection this
week and go on standby for the engine.
- Got a few mods to do.
- And YES, I plan to change PROPS one more time ... :-)
James
p.s. I think I might have some props for sale later if this all works out.

I didn't get to make it to the EAA Virginia Regional Fly-In, and was
wondering if anyone went, and how was the turnout.
