Thanks, Bob. I had lots of good help from family and church friends as in
years past, but this year I actually took part in the grilling operation. I
was about halfway done with BBQ duties when Pam and Larry Bowen arrived in
910LL, and handed the ops over to my daughter's boyfriend Jason shortly
after, but not before pulling the bag of chicken necks out of the meat
locker and using half our BBQ sauce just on them! First time for me,
grilling freshly-cut chickens form the local meat market, and I was
expecting to receive just breasts, thighs, drumsticks, wings - not gibblets
and necks thrown in, so I thought I was cooking extra-long, skinny chicken
legs at first. Did I mention I washed-out of the Boy Scouts and failed
anatomy in med school? You missed the aroma of grilling chicken smoking on
the grill, but it was mouth-watering, as the Bowens can attest.

Glad I came across as the perfect host, but not sure how I pulled that off.
Of course, having Miriam drive up halfway through the party in her Miata,
top-down (the car, I mean) and waving to the admiring crowd, was a nice
theatrical touch. And "Woody," the hot dog roaster, was a perennial hit
with everyone except my Mom ;-)
