Thanks, Don. Sigh! Is nothing sacred any more? Clearly, I bought the scam
- but, thought it might be possible given what the Israel pilot did with the
F-15 shorn of a wing.

Here's another one for you, Stan.

Amazing what they can do with a RC model of the F-15 minus one wing.
Ed Anderson
It is unbelievable because it is fake.
It was a RC plane and they put together the tape with a real airplane at the
end. Notice they don't show the "damaged" right wing as the guy opens the
canopy.
Come on guys - you're educated pilots. You know the aerodynamics of
aircraft well enough to know even Sean Tucker with his hovering stunt
couldn't do that.
The Germans have pulled a fast one on you.
Stan Sutterfield
This was way too good not to pass along. I had to watch it a few times and
I'm still not sure it is not an RC model.

Here is a post incident interview with the pilot: (Caution, bad language.
I think he has the right to use a little profanity after that flight.)

Ed,
The Israeli F-15C landing without a wing was real. I was flying the F-16 at
the time and we got a briefing on it. The Eagle was able to fly for several
reasons, the stabilators are differential and can create lift, the engines
can be used differentially to create lift, and not all of the wing was missing
- the wing root, which produces a large amount of lift, was still intact.
A real tribute to the aircraft.

Thanks, Stan.
It sure looked real, but given my gullibility about the "German Ace Pilot"
in the stunt plane, was not going to readily bite twice {:>).
So sounds like the aerodynamic features of the F-15, the tremendous power in
the engines - and the not inconsiderable skills of the pilot were
responsible for this seeming impossible feat.
Appreciate your explanation.
I did do a 12 miles engine-out glide in my Rv-6A to a successful airport
landing in Winchester, TN once (long story), but not quite the same -
although, my heart rate may well have been equal.
