Good that somebody pay attention, Andre, Thanks.
However, I must tell you that I also thought I had measured and made the
rod long enough so that it could not possibly come unscrewed from the
fittings even without the lock nuts. It turns out I was wrong, strongly
suggest
that you use lock nuts, unless of course you have disposable seat cushion

yes I remember reading your experience on the serv a couple years ago we
finished 2 RV7 and that one thing we check for sure we make that tube lon
g
enough that even if the lock nuts become loose there is enough threads le
ft
in both connectors that it remains in place like all push pull tubes shou
ld
be made to be sure.
thank you for telling us.

Hey, Len, imagine my embarrassment when I got home (I had taken photos

But I got the GPS coordinates now.
I never will forget the flight back home from one Staunton=99s visi
t,
keeping the airspeed below 90 in my RV-6A while holding onto the tilt up
canopy
handle to keep it from rising too far =93 until the handle came off
in my hand
having seared the cotter pin.
That was when I also discovered why Van said to put lock nuts on both end
of the canopy opening rod. Having taken off and intended to do a high
speed, rotary loud, pass over the runway =93 that is until the cano
py popped
open, looked and yes the handle was locked properly =93 just no con
necting rod
from handle to canopy rear latches =93 another seat cushion gone to
the neither
regions.
So, yes, a lot of delightful memories associated with it. IT did have a
nice =9CPilots room=9D in the back and the food was good.
