      Hey guys=2C

      urday!
      Weather permitting for sure.
Just wondering from all you local guys that visit there often=2C
is there anything to look out for flying into the field?
I've looked it up and got the vitals=2C like runway13/31 info (2500')and fr
      equencies. 122.9
anything else to watch out for?? Like what do you call the field on Unicom
      ?
Carthage? or Gilliam? We don't want to sound like foreigners....:-)

      now for the real question........
the BBQ......any favorites on the menu??

Roland Gilliam owns the place so its called Gilliam-McConnell field. Good parking
in grass. All the food is great. Good Q, good veggies. Some high trees on
approach end to 34, but no problem if you don't drag her in.

      Hi Bob,

There are a couple low antennas nearby, but they aren't much of an issue.
One is pretty close to the traffic pattern for 31 around the downwind to
base turn, but it's a low cell tower I think. Nice paved runway. There are
trees at the threshold on both ends. 40ft pines ~500ft from Rwy 13 and 20
ft trees ~100ft from 31. The trees are cut so they really don't cause much
      concern.

On busy days Roland will be on the Unicom directing traffic. I generally
call the field Gilliam-McConnell, but about half the folks just call it
      Carthage.

The pulled pork sandwich and fries is my favorite. Great place to stop. I
wish there were more places like it around.

      Thanks for the info Bill.
You said good parking in the grass.......
does it drain well? seems like we might get some rain
before Saturday=2C most forecast looks ok for Saturday.
The Rv's don't like taxing or parking in soggy grass....
so just trying to clarify "good" parking in grass.

      Gilliam-McConnell field-----got it!

I've only been there once but the 'Q won't disappoint. We're not fans
of NC style pulled pork but this is the first example my co-pilot would
eat... and I thought it was the best I've had. We even took some home.

Quite nice, can't wait to go back.
