I guess better a CHT wire than a Mag wire.......or something else. I'm chasing down a EI fuel gauge=2C right tank=2C intermittent off /on read ing on my capacitance system now. Tank good=2C converter good=2C unit sent back to EI for checkout=2C next thing is to change factory wiring harness!! Big PITA. Larry=2C Thanks for explaining the "let me google that for you" very cool. I never k new that ! Let me Google that for you..." Answered my own question with a trip to the GRT website - they sell replace ment screw-in bayonet probe adapters for 5 bucks. I'll be good to go when the mail runs later this week. -Stormy On Mon=2C Mar 15=2C 2010 at 11:36 AM=2C Bill Boyd wro te: Cause of my recent low (190-210*F) CHT's on #4 cylinder=2C with normal pre- start readings and normal EGT's and power in flight=2C was just what one mi ght suspect before even pulling the cowl - a faulty sensor=3B in this case =2C dangling free of the cylinder head=2C leaning against the intake manifo ld tube. What's curious is how the twist and lock spring-loaded connector came loose on this bayonet probe: the tiny spot-welded pin that protrudes radially fr om the side of stainless barrel that screws into the cylinder head=2C which the probe cap is slotted to lock upon=2C fell out of its hole. I will fin d out soon if I need to buy a whole new sensor or just the mounting assembl y. These probes are 12 years old and have 750 hours on them. I see no way to anticipate or detect this kind of failure before it happens. Fortunatel y=2C it's not a big safety-of-flight item to suddenly get a low CHT reading if the engine is still making normal power. Off to call GRT and see what's available in the way of spare parts... -Stormy st" target="_blank">http://www.matronics.com/Navigator?RVSouthEast-List tp://forums.matronics.com _blank">http://www.matronics.com/contribution st" target="_blank">http://www.matronics.com/Navigator?RVSouthEast-List tp://forums.matronics.com _blank">http://www.matronics.com/contribution _________________________________________________________________ Hotmail has tools for the New Busy. They're the worst sort. Almost done with my annual... new strobe head for the belly, replace a worn alternator mounting bolt, lash up the FWF wiring with fresh zip-ties, repair bottom damage to a wheel pant (I hate fiberglass work!) and repack the wheel bearings... and we're GTG. OUR FLY-IN IS ON FOR JUNE 26th! -Stormy On Tue, Mar 16, 2010 at 8:31 AM, BOB MARTIN wrote: > Stormy, > Thanks for sharing your mystery solving skills with us. > I guess better a CHT wire than a Mag wire.......or something else. > > I'm chasing down a EI fuel gauge, right tank, intermittent off /on reading > on my capacitance system now.
