If you are coming to the northwest part of the U.S., Kenmore Air Harbor
might be a good place. I got my seaplane rating here a long time ago so I
don't have any recent experience with them. They are now teaching in a 180
hp CubCrafters SuperCub. I got my rating in Cessna 172's and used to fly my
friend's Cessna 185 amphib out of Kenmore.

I live on the west coast, (Ashland Oregon), but got my rating 15 years ago
at Northwoods Aviation (KCAD) in Cadillac, Michigan
(http://www.northwoodsaviation.com/). One of the beauties of Michigan is
that there are so many seaplane accessible lakes and flying float planes is
some of the most fun kinds of flying there is.
