--> Seaplane-List message posted by: "dialindave hartmann" <dialindave@hotmail.com> Has anyone on the list ever used polyurethane expandable foam (like X-30) to seal aluminum float compartments? Reply off-list if you like. --> Seaplane-List message posted by: Skyshop <danny@skyshops.org> I would like to introduce myself. My name is Danny, I'm head of Skyshop Inc., we are the USA importer for Czech Aircraft Works floats and aircraft. I would like to give a comment on durability of our floats. We have made a lot of improvements over the last year using better sealing materials for the construction and now all aluminum is preprimed before assembly with two-part epoxy. Unfortunately the bearings we use are not available in stainless steel and in the past we have had service life problems with salt water operation. Fortunately these bearings are less than $3 a piece and are easily discarded and changed during service. We also have new stainless steel axels which are hollow with grease fitting for easy greasing of bearings between service. We also have new sizes coming including 1450 and 2150. Not to mention brand new flying boat, the Mermaid.
