I fly the IVO 3 blade lightweight blade on my amphibious Kitfox 4
with a 912ul. It works very well, but you do have to make sure you use
the stainless leading edge tape or water erosion will destroy the
fibreglass blades. My Kitfox is a bit underfloated, so my prop sees a
lot of water. But the prop handles it just fine with the metal tape
(although you should plan on replacing the tape every year or so as it
tends to crack from the blade twisting a bit in flight)
After flying a Warp prop myself on an amphibious Rans S-7 with a
912s on it, I would agree the Warp drive prop is superior when it comes
to erosion. But I am pretty convinced the IVO prop will outperform the
Warp for thrust. Plus the IVO is lighter, therefore you don't have gear
box issues with it like you might have with the Warp.
If I were you I would just fly the plane using all 3 blades of that
medium IVO. I have three friends flying the medium 3 blade IVO on 912s
powered Highlanders that are amphibs, and they all love the prop.
Particularly the power and the smoothness. (fwiw -they previously used
the significantly more expensive sensenich 2-blade ground adjustable
prop designed specifically for the 912uls, but they like the IVO better)
To tell you how well the IVO's perform, get this; My Model 4 amphib
(incidentally with only 80 hp) will go 118 mph flat out. Now remember,
that is on floats! (see attached pic) My reduced cruise speed (5000
rpm) is between 100-105 mph TAS. And it will climb with me and a full
tank of fuel on a warm day at 1400 fpm. I've not found another
combination of engine and prop that will do that on a floatplane. So I
am pretty well sold on the 912 and the IVO combination. And fwiw - I do
have a 912s that I plan on bolting in place of my 80 hp one of these
days. And when I do, I will be installing an IVO 3 blade medium on that
new engine (can seaplane pilots ever have enough power?) When I have
this combination installed you just might see me out flying alongside my
Cessna 180 and 185/206 floatplane buddies <GRIN>

I would like some opinions,
I have an S5 Kitfox and will be putting a 912ULS on in the near
future. I also purchased an IVO 72" ground adjustable 3 blade, medium
weight. I was thinking of mounting the IVO in the 2 blade configuration
to save weight and hoping to put the plane on floats in the future. Does
anyone have any experience testing the difference in performance between
the 2 and 3 blade configuration?
