Would any of you guys on floats provide some examples of what take-off
times
you are getting?
The attached spread sheet contains a simplified version of the formula
on
the Stinson site. This one just multiplies wing loading, power loading
and
float loading times a constant.
The two Rans examples look pretty good in that they are close to my
actual
numbers. The 170 number is also pretty close. The original formula gave
me a
time of 5 or six seconds which is way off. If you play with different
weights this one seems to work. Not sure if variations in hp work as
well.
Since I'll also be trying two more sets of floats on this plane the
affect
of buoyancy will also be stest.
