Peter AFRAID I DON'T HAVE MUCH TO OFFER -- HAVE (sorry, hit caps) flown a few floatplanes, owned a 170, old engine, Edo 2000's. Got about 16-18 sec run usually, one person aboard. Stuff like PBY's seem to take forever. Beaver, Otter, Norseman I'd guess 20 sec or so but I didn't take measurements. A friend once designed and built, starting with a clean sheet of paper! -- an ultralight biplane flying boat. Spoilers lower wing only, Flew fine but he was afraid of it. New owner I think crashed it. Have seen the Lotus single-float with Lee's retractable gear; not too impressed. I hope to get a Classic or Extra & make it amphibious, floating-hull. Floats are too fragile for what I need to do with an aircraft. Don't know how I'll handle the wing floats. Fold-down wingtips would be great! -- but complicated. Where are you located? Fresh water or salt? Russ Kinne do not archive On Jun 9, 2007, at 5:28 PM, Peter C wrote: > <float perf.xls>

Hello Russ. The problem I have with floating hulls is the docking issue re the tip floats. Docking a twin float plane is so much easier since almost any boat dock will do. Unless you can always go into beaches docking in a stiff breeze can be stressful. Peter My S7 on floats is still for sale. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Russ Kinne" <russ@rkiphoto.com> Sent: Monday, June 11, 2007 9:24 AM Subject: Re: Seaplane-List: Float performance tool > > Peter > AFRAID I DON'T HAVE MUCH TO OFFER -- HAVE (sorry, hit caps) flown a few > floatplanes, owned a 170, old engine, Edo 2000's.
