Dont you think all passengers would be thrilled to know their own weight was putting the plane way over design limits ? I just came in from a 7 hour x country, 582 Kitfox on Amphibs, with me 205 + passenger 200 + baggage + Full Fuel + 12 gallons in jerry cans in floats. Picked him up on Asphault runway and took him to Marina for fuel then off Glassy water and into Cottage .......... back out this am and no problem. I guess if you actually had ever flown a Kitfox and/or a floatplane and/or anything then you could make a more educated guess. That being said a Speedwing will lack the great STOL performance of a Long Wing one but you might gain a few mph in cruise and i would rather not havea psed wing on floats. Don't forget at 70 mph the floats fly themselves.... Only stress to the frame of the plane is when it's on the water. That's why many designs allow an extra 100 lb to the plane on floats and TC and the FAA agrees with them. :-) Noel > -----Original Message----- > From: owner-seaplane-list-server@matronics.com > [mailto:owner-seaplane-list-server@matronics.com] On Behalf > Of Scott Perkins > Sent: Sunday, July 22, 2007 7:56 AM > To: seaplane-list@matronics.com > Subject: Seaplane-List: Kitfox Speedster on floats > > > <2scott@bellsouth.net> > > Yes, of course, The weight of the floats equals the weight of your > passenger.
