--> Stratus-List message posted by: Bill Morelli <billvt@together.net> This is what I do not like about Stratus!!!! So far there are three valve settings floating around (that I know about). the original 010" intake and 014" exhaust, then all at .014" (which is what I have been using) and now all at .016" How new is your engine and manual? Have any of you guys ever been notified that there were redesigns to the alternator bracket (thicker material), backup ignition bracket (thicker material), valve adjustment settings? I wasn't and found out the hard way by having things crack. Then I received input from other builders about the changes. Sometimes I wonder if Mykal realizes that these engine are used in airplanes, not dune buggy's!!!! Regards, Bill > My Stratus manual says to adjust both to 0.016" which is what I have been >using. > >Hugh

I wish Mykal owned a plane with is own engine installed, I'm sure we'd get much better feedback. When my coil went out I asked Mykal what type of auto it came from so I could purchase a replacement locally. He told me the coils came from a Dodge Neon. So I went to my local Dodge dealer with my old coil in hand and got laughed out of the place! Embarrassing that I don't even know what kind of car I drive (I told them it came off my Neon). Kelly

--> Stratus-List message posted by: "Gary K" <flyink@efortress.com> Nope, same as you. My manual says 10 and 14. I saw someone on airsoob (maybe?) said their engine ran better going "a few thou looser". Guess I'll go with 16 for both, first I heard of this too. Yes, Mykal should have all this on his website if he's not going to update all owners by mail. I did get two service bulletins with my engine - carb intake elbows susceptable to fuel (I removed mine and replaced filters with K&N) and switching from two drive belts to one. That's pretty old stuff but at least it was an attempt at service bulletins. All the rest of the problems I found out about on the ZAC list. I tried the Kitfox list because there were supposed to be a lot of Stratus guys there but nobody answered when I asked and there doesn't seem to be much in the archives. Spose I should let Mykal know about this list, maybe he could let other owners know too. The more on the list the better chance of finding problems and making corrections. --> Stratus-List message posted by: "Hugh & Sherry" <hugs.mackenzie@sympatico.ca> My Engine was purchased in 1997. So the manual is six years old. Don't think I have seen any notification on any of these changes.
