thanks Bill. I put the RAM heads on last Sunday and adjusted to .016"
because that's what I got from the emails at that time (my manual says 10
and 14). Fired right up and runs great. I got all of my old parts back and
there were no knurled guides and didn't look like there were any problems,
had to check though. I will re-adjust the valves to .014" before I run it
again. Thanks for clearing that up. Also interesting that there are no
valve seals on the RAM guides. I asked Ron and he said the guides are hand
honed to 1.5 thou clearance for matched pairs of valves/guides and don't
need seals.

Does anyone out there happen to know what the correct distributor air gap should
be on the Stratus EA-81?
I've asked Stratus but haven't gotten any reply yet.
Thanks,
Kelly

Kelly,
According to the manual I have, it depends on the type distributor you have
and the year.
I think mine is a Nippondenso and around an 84
For that it then calls for a .012 to .016 gap
Looking at the entire list of gaps for various years and distributors, they
are typically from .008 to .016 or from .012 to .020
My thought would be to take the middle road from that and set it to
.014" That would cover every model listed.
After I typed the above, I looked in the other Subaru manual I have and it
says "Set the air gap to .014" which is within range for all Subaru breaker
less ignitions"
Hope this helps
Regards,
Bill

The gap is stock we do not change that. should be .008.You need to set the
timing .and that is 30 to 32 degrees total advance at 4000 rpm.
