That's pretty much how it works. The timing light is connected to the spark
plug of cylinder #1 and the alignment is done when #1 is "sparking" near TDC.
I was cleaning out the basement last winter and found a timing light
(non-adjustable) I used to use on my cars 20+ years ago before they installed
computers in today's cars. I didn't think I would be able to use it anymore so
I
tossed it. Now I regret it because I might be able to use it on my Stratus (I
would have to make a chalk mark on the 32-degree position). Never throw away
tools!

Thanks for confirming this Dick!
Yes, I also dug thru my old auto tools when I was a gear head 25 years ago.
I think I found the light you threw away? I wish Stratus would have marked
the 32 deg on the pulley for us to use the old style lights.
Makes me wonder if one could measure the diameter of the pulley, then take a
compass and sheet of paper and draw the same diameter circle on the paper.
Then with a protractor divide the circle off into degrees, mark the required
32 degrees on the paper. Take the paper and over lay it on the pulley with 0
degrees at 12 o'clock, then mark the pulley at the 32 degrees from the
paper. After this just use the old style timing light?????
Just a thought ...............

(STILL waiting for my new distributor to arrive ... ahhhh)
