A couple guys on the airsoob list did that. usually not required if any
airflow over the pan. i bought all the parts but thought they weighed a ton
and were expensive so i returned the stuff. got it all from summit racing,
can find p/n's if you'd like. there was an issue about the correct thread
on the oil filter, someone found one that threaded on but not properly.
seemed like too many new sources to fail and blow oil out too. i did add a
remote pressure sender but installed an oil restrictor first.

Mykal said he is looking at redesigning the engine mount. This is a big
surprise that they are made out of mild steel. I'm not a mechanical
engineer but that doesn't sound right. I'll ask him about that. No sense
designing a new one out of the same stuff.

I made an adjustable cowl opening in front of the oil pan. Works great. Oil temp
never above 190 even in Texas heat. Don HDS

Good deal!
If he beefs up the size correctly, the hot rolled 60KPSI stuff would be
preferable.
Harder metals fracture very suddenly. The softer stuff will fail more
slowly, crack and sag long before
failure. For a few years, I designed special lifting bails, typically using
softer stuff so it could be inspected
for deformation and cracking before it would fail on someone. If he used
harder steels, I'd expect the
mount to weigh at least as much.

Would you care to elaborate on the size/area of the opening and proximity
to the pan and how it works
from the cockpit for adjustment. Very interested. Just on the cowl at the
moment.
