My engine is using a significant amount of oil. About 1 quart every 10
hours. I have a seeping rear seal (behind the flywheel) and just noticed
some oil coming from the front seal (behind the crank pulley). I have 290
hours on the engine.
I just ordered the front and rear seals from Ron at Ram.
My compression checks are very good. I perform both a straight compression
check and a differential check. On the straight compression check I get
greater than 165 psi on all 4 cylinders. On the differential leak check,
all cylinders have a low leak rate ( around 12 to 14 %)
So I'm hoping that the seals are the culprit.
Regards,
Bill

Bill, I had the same problem from the get go. My rear seal leaked when I got the
engine and gradually became worse to the quart per 10 hr. point. I bought a
seal locally, replaced it and that solved the problem. Don Walker

My engine is still tight (no leaking seals) ....... anyone else with a non
leaking engine seeing this oil consumption from their Stratus?
Is this normal for the EA-81?
